They shouldn’t sell themselves short. They’re just as qualified to be expendable as the new recruits were in Starship Troopers.

I wonder how many people would send this to their coworker and say, “This is you.”

The job listing should read: Strong … Brave … A good shot … Willing to follow an idiot

I have worked at more than one company where lazy managers required us to write our own job descriptions. Then gave them to HR to use. Learned that to keep our jobs we had to write our own job descriptions in a way that essentially made only the us possible fully qualified person… that led to HR posting insane requirements in job advertisements, but it made it harder for them to replace us…

For example, one of our computer programmers suspected that the company wanted to replace him because he was a senior level employee (considered too expensive, despite the income he helped generate for the company). When he was tasked to write his own job description / qualifications, he listed every programming language that he had ever learned – even languages that we didn’t use at our company. Sure enough, he found our company posting a job opportunity that included his description / qualifications word for word. Company found very few candidates who could check off every qualification, and those who could wanted much more money than the company wanted to pay…

In a firefight between the Stormtroopers and the Sleestak, the safest place to stand is in front of a target, but the redshirts die anyway.
