Calvin appears to be fluent with big words…..

Well, how do you expect your father to quit insulting you, Calvin, if you didn’t bring it up to your mother?

Well, DAD, Calvin has become immortal, so THERE!!

Stick around Dad, the spawn from your loins will really surprise you later on!!! You may have to move to a new State.

This father/son thing isn’t going well.

More like a gently suggestion that bodes ill for the future if not followed.

He doesn’t insult him, he questions his abilities.

Well, Dad really wanted a dachshund, but noooo, Mom wanted a kid. So here we are.

That’s an odd liberal moment for Calvin.

When I would really tick my dad off when I was Calvin’s age, he’d say: “Your mom and I brought you into this world, I’ll take you out and we’ll make another one that looks just like you and have fun doing it!” At that time I wasn’t certain what he meant but I knew one thing for a fact, I didn’t want to irk him any further.

Dads reply got Calvin to pause and think up a retort! ☺️

A good solution to Calvin’s attitude would be few siblings.

Not putting the burden on Mom.

Maybe they could adopt a half dozen assorted kids?

He can try to influence Mom, but she knows her son well enough to recognize that he is trying the ‘age-old’ trick of playing the parents against one another ! ! ! !

Now we know why Calvin is an only child.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly why a lot of people have children.

One good insult deserves another.

Did anyone notice the missing word in the dad’s dialog balloon? It should say, “If I were you, you can bet I would be re-evaluating my strategy.”

Someday his parents will be interviewed by the media saying, “well he was a handful at times, but we never thought he’d commit such an act.”

Two points for Dad.

I was 15, woke up after 2am with a desire to go over into the living room to look out on the occasional traffic passing by on the four lane residential, and who was in my spot on the sofa, but Mom.. Head in her lap as she caressed my hair & gazed out on the traffic, after a quiet period I started in on my concerns of the moment, then asked why she’s up., after a moment, she breathed, ‘Just wondering if I did all I could, for your future..’

The decorative vocabulary of Calvin has an equal in simple words of father. Nobody understands this better than mom.

There’s a notable difference between self concept and self delusion. Many children (and adults) today labor under the latter and it does take away from their ability to fix those things that need fixing.
