Sarah Doll: There again, it's that wantin' to reform! Boopsie: Sam, you can put the doll away- Sarah's over. B.D. The hell she is- she's all over TV! Boopsie: Yes, reminding people why she lost. B.D. It wasn't her fault! I'm telling you, she's the future of the party! She's got charisma, ambition, bedrock values... Sarah Doll: France is my favorite city! B.D. ... and four years to cram! Boopsie: Good luck with that.

Eh, I really, really hope the Republicans put Sarah up this next time out. We can all stand to have the GOP be a joke for four more years.

Hey B.D. - Memorizing facts (cramming) is not the same as intelligence. That’s why medicine is considered an “art” as well as a “science” - that’s why there are great doctors (and some that are not so great). The same holds true for management - and the U.S. presidency is the ultimate management job. Presidents with superior ability to process knowledge (i.e., intelligence) bring art to the job. By the time a person is in his or her mid-forties, the level of intelligence (processing) is pretty well established. Knowledge can be acquired if the memory skills are there -but IQ? Not likely, IMHO

@Susan, you said it perfectly! Especially the hypocrite part. “Do as I say not as I do” seems to be the main part of her belief system…!

if everyone who has ‘set back women’s rights by 50 years’ actually had done so women rights would be back the way it was circa the stone age - considering how often people throw that insult around.

I had a cutting remark but decided I wanted to keep some credibility in the comments.

Bah! She couldn’t even be bothered to finish her term as governor. Thought it would be more fun to go on the talk show circuit.

How can an experienced vet like BD be so insightful to his fellow wounded vets and still be a sheeple?
cdward almost 15 years ago
^Because he thinks she’s hot. If he’s a Nam vet, she’s a good bit younger than him.
hizzonner almost 15 years ago
It’s hard to believe that this strip one won a Pulitzer. It’s gotten snarky and small-minded.
Justice22 almost 15 years ago
BD is simply following the lead of most officers in the military. They believe only Republicans can provide a strong military force. The military industry gets it’s $$$ from the repubs and vice versa.

COURIC: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land– boundary that we have with– Canada.
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our– our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia–
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We– we do– it’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is– from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to– to our state

“Can’t you get off your political bandwagons this ONE time of the year?”
RE: Apparently you can’t either.
florchi almost 15 years ago
Back when she was on the Republican ticket, one of the prominent female pundits wrote that Palin had an “uncurious mind.” The remark was not intended as a compliment to someone seeking national office.

Joe-Allen: I’m not sure how many really want Joe the not-Plumber, but it seems plausible that Sarah Palin could attract around 40% of the vote in a theoretical election held today. The evangelical wing of the Republican party loves her that much.
But that said, I think 42% may be the absolute ceiling, so unless they can convince Hillary Clinton to run as an independent to split the Democratic vote, I don’t see any path to victory.

You mean F-F-F-France?? The Anti-America???
That’s political suicide to you and your kind, SP.
One order of Freedom Fries to go!
Justice22 almost 15 years ago
Didn’t I see that Joe “the plumber” gave up on trying to actually become a plumber? Maybe the two are a lot more alike than I thought.
bradwilliams almost 15 years ago
Freedom fries… how stupid. The french hate the fact we named our junk food after them. So what do we do to show them we are unhappy… we take their name off of something they did not want to be named after in the first place. MLK would be so proud.

Politics notwithstanding….
“…why she lost.” What’s up with that?
SHE was not THE candidate, any more than Joe Biden was THE candidate?
Interesting to note the blasting of Obama that Trudeau has also done lately. I’ve had a love/hate relationship (comics-wise) with Trudeau for years. bleeep him! He makes me read his strip EVERY day.

I thought BD was in ‘Nam before he became footfball coach, and joined the Reserves. Then he got called up for Iraq. Or was it Afghanistan?
Ushindi almost 15 years ago
nighthawks: Thanks - I remember those interviews and still shudder…
fritzoid Premium Member almost 15 years ago
annamargaret, BD volunteered to go to Vietnam to get out of writing a term paper. This was back when the gang were still students at Walden U.
He was first called up as a reservist in Desert Storm, and I think that was when he first traded in his football helmet for an actual army helmet (he wore his football helmet during his tour in ‘Nam).
He was called up again for the recent Iraq war, and that’s where he lost his leg (and his helmet, if I recall correctly).
Over the last dozen years or so I think BD’s been the most interesting character in the strip, but I’m disappointed that Trudeau has him supporting Palin. I know he’s a dyed-in-the-wool Republican, but I thought he had stopped being blind about it.

Joe Allen, you mean dumocrats?
fritzoid Premium Member almost 15 years ago
My, tcambeul, what a clever pun. You must have lain awake all night thinking that one up. Your gift of quick and cutting ripostes is unequalled since the Algonquin Round Table.

I’d rather be a sheeple than a lemming, if I had to choose between the two…

Heck, I’ll take Palin over anything the opposition provides…particularly the sock puppet in chief the dolts voted for. Good G*d, he’s so pathetic even Trudeau calls him out…and Trudeau bleeds kool-aid.

Actually three years to cram for the Presidency, two years for the candidacy.
