I really expected Honeymoon’s first encounter with her mother to be more emotional than it did. Suddenly Honeymoon seems to have doubt in Moon Maid, perhaps that’s why. Also, why was Mysta willing to see her daughter but not Junior?
Amazing……she recognizes his car even though surely she’s never seen it…….he must have gotten a new one by now, especially considering the weather there….
Will Junior follow that car?! Does Clone-Moon Maid need another dose of memory-implanting before she’s “ready” to meet Junior? Will Honeymoon’s detective work give Junior the clues he needs to discover what’s really going on (whatever that may be)? Stay ’tooned; I certainly will.
“I’m not ready!”Memories not fully recovered? Faulty memories implanted? What is Sail’s role in Mysta’s uncharacteristic behavior? I know I’ll be checking in to find out. And, to state the obvious: Mysta is NOT a “bimbo.”
The only thing that will be proven from the hair strand is whether or not Moon Maid is an imposter. The DNA of a clone should be the same as that of the original.-———Junior won’t ‘follow that car’ – he’ll be more concerned about how Honeymoon is.
oh and for the record… for ME at least, this story has moved into the territory of “incredibly boring”.
no knock on junior at all, but he is a police sketch artist, i dont think they are required to carry firearms so a shoot out of moon maid lite’s tires to prevent her from escaping doesnt seem likely.(tho knowing his family history, carrying a weapon WOULDNT be much of a stretch for him.
as for his detective skills… i dont ever recall junior being much of a detective at all.. with the exception of when he was much younger and first came into tracy’s life. one would hope tho that he has learned a thing or two from his “dear old dad dick tracy” and can follow a clue or three.
oh and one other thing.. sorry for so many posts but… WHERE did honeymoon come up with the brush all of a sudden yesterday? she seems to have pulled it out of thin air to brush moon maid’s hair, and judging by the looks of it, it’s more of a paddle brush than anything else… NOT exactly the type youd actually carry around in your back pocket with you at all times
Junior arrives home – Mysta is still with Honeymoon – Mysta says, “I’m not ready (to meet Junior).” If she wasn’t ready for Junior, then why was she ready for Honeymoon?
NIghtShade09 and anyone else subscribing to the “clone” or “replicant” theories – clones and replicants are still fakes! All DNA will do is eliminate one of three possible fakes.
And I think this is the biggest weakness in the storyline – that Mysta may still be a fake! And, if she is, we may have opened up a can of worms that will make the Space Era look tame!
Imagine! Flattop was such a popular villain – why not let our pair of docs make as many of them as needed to keep Tracy busy! After all, whenever he shows up, he gets killed – but fans cry for more Flattop!
Why not the hopeless druggie Measles? Seems there has been a lot of demand for his return, as well!
Most of all, with all these clones and replicants running around, DNA testing will become irrelevant! If everybody is running around with someone else’s DNA, then what will it matter, anyway?
As for me, the only unreasonable thing I was asking for was a possible explanation as to how Mysta survived and, if so, why no contact from her in all these years.
Yes, I still want Mysta to be the “real deal,” because she was such an interesting character – and her plight seems oddly in line with some personal experiences I have had. But other than that, I can’t say that I have a huge attachment to the Space Era, per se (even if my postage stamp is a space coupe).
Though I wish Mike and Joe would bring back Sawdust!
Dick Locher: I heard (in this blog) that he was stepping down as one of the Tribune’s editorial cartoonists. Tried to access the website and couldn’t. Anybody have the details?
Thinking about my earlier post, perhaps this is exactly where Mike and Joe may be taking the story – with Diet Smith’s endorsement of Mysta as a genuine “clone” or “replicant” (an oxymoron right there – a genuine fake!), all of Tracy Land’s underworld would line up in a heart beat!
Criminals lining up as far as the eye can see so they can be replicated – so they can’t “die” or be traced using DNA!
But the house of cards falls apart when Honeymoon discovers that Mysta still writes gags for Sawdust!
I’ve been on the “Clone” bandwagon, for some time now but, I am now leaning towards “Fake MM” in particular, the bandages<< healing plastic surgery to make the imposter look more like MM (or to hide a beard), secondly, when MM went after Sparkle, she was carrying a picture, as if to recognise her, now, you might forget the face of a stranger after 5 or 6 years, but, you wouldn’t likely forget the face of your BEST FRIEND** in that relatively short time!

yeah, if Honeymoon knew what Moon Maid did to Sparkle, she’d already have some of her “DNA” on her fist, lol

Commenting on the 2 weeks I just caught up on:
Personally, I hope that the NEXT time Sparkle and MM meet up, Sparkle lays a good ol’ mountain girl beating on the space bimbo!

Would be easy to recognize Junior’s car, it has the box with his name in it hovering over it.

She also has been stalking the family for some time. She would recognize the car that’s usually parked in the driveway.

Let’s take a moment to say Happy Birthday to Dick Locher, who guided this strip from 1983 till the current team of Joe and Mike took over.

There is no question that this storyline is going to be a necessary part of every future collection of the strip. It feels like history in the making.
I do wonder why Junior isn’t using his wife’s actual name.
