newbie here, read tracy late 60’s early 70’s, been lurking for about a month, nostalgic I guess, I remember the Moon period, interesting developements, somewhat boring at times, but I’ve been away for 30 years, so I’ll reserve future comments, still interesting, almost like i haven’t missed much…reserving judgement, enjoying the ride
who was the charcter who developed a riot suit in the late 60’s early 70’s? He was a poacher of moon snails who had specially trimmed finger nails to open the snails membranes, I remember the detailed description of the “:suit” in the strip of the time(first run)
…….while I know this strip is supposed to be written months in advance, you still have to wonder if that hair combing DNA comment weeks back was just an awesome guess, or it was noticed and inserted into the storyline, lol
Poor Sparkle! Clone-Moon Maid’s zap was more devastating than anyone realized at the time! Where will she end up, and with whom? Will she be bereft of memory?
Here’s a left field possibility…The truck (diesel fueled?) is filled with fertilizer (Ammonium Nitrate?), making it a potential car-bomb. Junior, Tracy, and Mysta wind up tracking Sparkle down. The truck accidentally comes in contact with fire (a possible igniter would be Mysta’s electrical powers). Realizing the danger she has put Sparkle in, Mysta gets Sparkle out of the truck, only to be caught in the explosion herself and replaying the original Moon Maid’s demise. Just brainstorming.
For explosives to ignite I think the igniter (fire) must travel at 4,000 feet per second. The laws require that blasting caps and dynamite be stored and transported separately and in their own containers that we call magazines. A whole mountain of explosives can be set off by just one cap, but we used to put 2 electric blasting caps in one stick of dynamite (we would say use 2 caps just in case) ((just in case for what I don’t know, but still use 2 just in case)) to set off 1,700 lbs of diesel / fertilizer mix.
Willie007: Maybe they are exaggerated in my mind because I sense that there may be more than are currently posting – I grant that the majority want Mysta around for good – perhaps causing some to hold their posts for now.
When such posts have appeared, they seemed rather emotional – and I’ll leave it at that.
I also include those posts in which several have tried to insist that Mysta must be a clone or some other kind of regenerate fake. Not sure of your feelings, but I don’t see a future for the Moon Maid if she’s any kind of a fake.
The story I want to see told is that of a man who has married two women, both in good faith, fully believing that his first wife was dead – though, now we know otherwise.
Not sure that DT is the place for that story. DT has to fill that story with other subplots, such as crime and often death.
And I suppose it doesn’t help that Mysta is an alien from a planet known to be lifeless. And we also find ourselves trying to invent a kind of science in which Mysta survives a blast that would otherwise have been considered certain death.
Mysta’s survival also suggests yet more conspiracy theories; if she didn’t die, what happened at the coroner’s office? Who’s buried in Mysta’s tomb?
In the mean time, Mysta has committed a crime – she assaulted Sparkle – though enough crumbs have been dropped to make it possible for that event to not be detected.
Many have complimented Team Tracy on having crafted such a complex and multi-layered story, which they have done.
But I am unsure as to where (or whether) the story I had hoped to see will ever rise to the top of all these subplots!
We’re seeing one of the best possible examples of the Time Distortion Effect in Comic Strips
The action in today’s strip – June 18 – began on May 24 when Dr. Sail visited Diet Smith for the second time. (And it’s very likely that Sail’s first meeting with Smith – seen on May 21 – also occurred earlier that same day.)
You’re referring to the “Batman Beyond” movie, “Return of the Joker.”I enjoyed that film, but for the life of me, I could never get the explanation of how the Joker ‘returned’ to make sense, which is too bad, as the rest of the film was very well done.
…….so what is Sail actually trying to say he did? It couldn’t be clone her, because she wouldn’t have all those memories…..on the other hand, if you were going to attempt to be the first one to bring someone back to life, you’d surely start with someone in one piece, obviously, not one in a million pieces….the harder you think about this story, the harder it is to believe, really…..

Hmmm, if she got zapped HOURS ago, she could be very far from home, by now

Poor Sparkle, and poor Junior! I hope Sparkle does not get very far from home!

Maybe she has a wrist wizard like all the tracy family seem to have.

Look at BO and the ugly one in panel 1; kind of classic wouldn’t you say?

My questions late yesterday are answered. Jewel is with the Plentys and Gertie is realizing that Sparkle is missing.

The plentys are a family that’s lethal from a very early age.

anyone ELSE here think junior;’s not gonna put two and two together and figure out moon maid lite had something to do with sparkle disappearing?

Does whoever is driving that truck never check his rearview mirror? Sparkle is in plain sight as far as I can see.
yumpinyiminey over 11 years ago
Wondering if the guy (woman?) driving will turn out to be a crook, which will lead into another complication.

I remember BO from the 1950s, he is no one to fool with, now with his new ax anything can happen to save Sparkle.

Now days they use 1 electric blasting cap to ignite a thing we call e-cord which sets of the non-l (nonelectric) caps, which sets off the dynamite.
