I don’t know about that. An “outgoing” person would probably show up at the dorm to actually meet her roommate, rather than sneaking in and out without ever actually seeing her. In fact, even most shy and introverted people would at least show up at the dorm and say hello to their roommate. I think “secretive” is a better way to describe Dez than “outgoing.”

I think that part of the problem that people have with the way Sun is drawn is that she seems to be much less realistically drawn than the other characters around her. While Bernice is drawn in the standard style for this strip, people like Viper and Piro are drawn somewhat more realistically. But Sun looks even less realistic than Bernice, much less Viper. If Greg is going to keep Sun in the strip, he ought to put some more effort into her character design.

Seems like this bunch would give Tiffany a bad time. Maybe a reverse makeover…

Get out of there NOW. Go to the resident assistant, the grad assistant, the housing director — and call campus security about the strange things going on.

Was there ever a college freshman who didn’t have roommate issues? None that I remember.

I’ve got a sound asleep IS Katie lying next to me…she looks so comfy I hate to move her! She had a better day today as she is back to normal from her teeth-cleaning yesterday (actually from the effects of the anesthesia). I have a good book I’d like to read before retiring for the night…so, ’Nite all! ;)

I can’t remember seeing Bernice smile very often, and it’s nice to see a happy Bernice…^^Bernice used to be a much happier person, then she fell in love with a man, in a wheelchair, (Can’t think of his name atm…) who left her and she has been snarkier and nastier since; mind you, she’s been much better as of late.

Look at these miscreants. Why can’t they wear crew cuts and knee-length skirts like when I was a girl. Golly, the ladies aren’t even wearing white kid leather gloves. I bet they don’t even know who Perry Como is.

I wish I could have had green painted walls in my dorm room. It was just this horrible white stucco. Maybe color would have helped me get better grades.

The Asian woman’s smile reminds me of some of the critters in “Over the Hedge.”

It seems to me a characteristic feature of this strip that Evans populates his universe with, first, characters who have inner life and agency, and, second, disposable one-note-automaton-zombie-clowns who exist only so that the bona fide characters may play off them. Oddly, and awkwardly I think, Evans sometimes promotes a ONAZC to the rank of full-fledged character. Certainly Toni, Gunther and Crystal and TJ seems perpetually on the verge. Besides the writing, Evans projects this two-caste system by mixing two drawing styles. Characters have a range of expressions; ONAZCs never take off their masks.

Sun’s mouth looks like she tried to swallow a whole watermelon sideways, and it got stuck. That’s what comes from eating with your eyes sewn shut.

The obvious story arc here would have innocent Bernice mixed up in a dormitory drug bust. This would parallel the theme of Brad suspecting TJ of insurance fraud, with the question: what is an innocent person’s responsibility when they suspect someone of violating the law?

Could Dez be a guy?? Lots of colleges have co-ed dorms. That would explain the creepy, but fun, friends. Typical college-aged guy thing.

I’m reminded of an episode of “Good Times”, where Thelma gets tired and moves out. Talk about taking liberties and dealing with “encroaching on personal space”! She finds out that JJ wasn’t so bad to deal with, after all…..

Note the apple – at least she eats healthy.^^The idea that apples are particularly healthy is a myth, in reality, apples consist only of sugar water and pulp, they have very little nutritional value.The supposed saying that “An apple a day, keeps the Dr away”, was actually written as a promotional ad copy for a group of American apple farmers, trying to drum up business (And it was highly successful, to boot!).

Having been a college student, never leave the door open when you have friends over – a wide invitation to have a party. Students pass by in the hall, see a group of students in the room with the door open, think “party” and tell others. Snowball effect.

The strip seems to be spending much more time on Bernice’s experiences at Mooney than on Luann’s experiences at Pitt CC. Will out heroine ever do anything interesting there, or meet any other students? If not, then it’s time to change the strip’s name to “Bernice and Luann”, and gradually phase out the latter character.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the second band playing was….^^I was at the Shonen Knife Concert 2 1/2 weeks ago in Toronto, I must admit that I kind of enjoy the SK crowd, as we all have the same Deity… not to mention the girl dancing behind me all night, who kept bumping into me :p

This storyline seems to need a very long runway to take off.

I’m trying to remember the sketch where Tim Conway accidentally falls into a painting of a barn… and in the picture, a tiny farmer’s pitchfork sweeps in and pokes him in the nose….

Follow that up with Carol Burnett and Robin Williams. Be sure to watch it all the way through, it gets better. What a performer he was! Carol, too. How either of them could keep a straight face is beyond me.

Oh….. Carol and company (Korman, Wagoner, Conway, Lawrence) always had trouble keeping straight faces.They were famous for losing it while attempting to perform skits. I often thought they purposely tried to push each other’s buttons just to make them laugh.

When Robin used to go off the script into imrovisaional lunacy, Pam Dawber had all she could do just to stand there and keep from cracking up completely

Piro and Hair are probably both characters who will re-occur. .We know little of Piro’s character (beyond the bags), but Hair sees a retread of Knute. Though he seems more musical (and probably smarter – with some ambition)..To make sense in this strip, this gang will have to interact with Luann at some point. Dez may have some role in this..Since Quill is at Moony too, they could first interact with him, or via the Drama teacher there. (Luann has some sort of part time job there, a ‘genius’ in stage design. )
