Aw, phoey!!! It’s just “sum guy”….. coulda really made an impact, if it were a “reappearance” of Mr. B, at least for the sake of having more adults around in the kids’ lives. Unless Greg decided that it wouldn’t be a positive experience. Not to mention, it would beat the ol’ “make room for a new guy in the pic, Gunth!” bit… – Now , the question is: Date, Future Mate, or in the “Friend State”?…. – Or is it some sort of associate, be it professional, community acquaintance, or other. Or maybe he won a “Willard Scott Lookalike Contest”, and she was a judge…. – “Gray”, huh? How apt, given his sport coat and appearance…..

Well, it is raining tonight. And rain is most certainly not IS Katie’s choice of weather! She’ll stand by the French Doors by the back deck, and refuses to go out because there are some raindrops out there! She kept bopping me because she really had to go out, but there was no way she was going to! Finally, I gave up and got her leash and the big umbrella and went out with her…success! I know we spoil her, but what’s an Irish Setter for but to spoil?! She give us such love… Anyway, the rain has quit for awhile, but she is napping, so much for that ! It is getting kinda late, so we’ll sign off for now! ‘Nite all! ;)-————————————————————-“When I was one-and-twenty I heard a wise man say, ’Give crowns and pounds and guineas But not your heart away; Give pearls away and rubies, But keep your fancy free.’ But I was one-and-twenty, No use to talk to me. I thought I was the only one.So far, Gunther seems concerned for his beloved mother and confused about the entire situation.(Add to this the fact the blood hasn’t all returned to his big head after a few hours of passion with Rosa….implied and surmised.)

YES !!!! Now that “Gunthie” is out of school, it’s time for his Mom to have a life of her own. No explanations are needed. She’s is already an adult. Go forth and have fun; spend time with somebody her own age. Sacrifice time is over. Grow up “Gunthie” and start a life of your own.Your Mom has done enough for you!

I haven’t a guess as to what’s been going on for the last month, or even where it is going. Missing college roommate, odd creatures like Viper, a brief mention of a theater production, a dinner party for Gunther’s mother, so sign of Rosa, and now, the mysterious Mr. Grey. I’m lost.

Given Gunther’s past history with his mom, I’m sure there is some element of “possessiveness”. Or maybe it’s more of the “looking out for my Ma”. It could be that, as well!– Remember, too, that he *_did_*decide to “break the apron strings”, and he is still there in Peru with Rosa, for now. If he were still “Holding Back The Years” (♫), he might have stayed. But he was actually the first one in his household to show his “breaking with tradition” iwth his mom (unless this person has been romantically involved with Mrs. B before it all). So it also may be just another “Surprise!” going on (this one from his mom to him), which seems to be the “feature” of this week….– However, I think a key portion of the context is missing from that, to really make a certain determination. Perhaps tomorrow, we’ll have confirmation of what Gunther’s inquiry of “Define friend” really means. It could be " Define friend" . It could also be "Define friend ". Such subtle cues in the tone of voice make all the difference…

What I meant is – it’ll probably take Gunther some time to adjust to this new reality, and why shouldn’t it? I’m sure he’s seen himself as his mother’s protector as well as her son for a very long time now. That doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t be able to adjust to new realities – such as his mother dating and potentially letting a new man into her life!

    Potential Poll Question:

    1. Do you REALLY think Greg is going to have Mr. Gray be Mrs. Berger’s long-term (or even short-term) lover, or is there something far more pedestrian as a likely outcome?

    2. If you suspect a more pedestrian outcome, what might it be?

    My answer:

    1. I do not think Mr. Gray will be Mrs. Berger’s romantic interest.

    2. I suspect he will be a friend who is a person she went to high school with who happened to be in town for a convention. They have not seen each other in about 4-5 years (since the last high school reunion).

Maybe with a little less hostility. -It’s not clear that Mrs. Berger was keeping a relationship (with Mr. G or anyone else) a secret for all that long; she told Gunther in so many words before he left for Peru that it was time for both of them to be a little less dependent on each other. So I’m thinking this relationship is fairly new…)

“Gunther’s mom made it perfectly clear to Gunther that when he left she was going to get wild.”.When you say she made it perfectly clear to Gunther, you assume he isn’t obtuse..“Gunther is being a horrible, selfish person right now.”.The child/man asked for clarification. He is not horrible, has never been selfish. You are just reading yourself into his confusion, assuming selfishness where none exists.

“I do believe that no passion has ever been implied on their trip. The last we left them Rosa was pissed off and is probably going to be a grump butt going forward.”.Subtle hints abound. We quiet types are the most passionate.
