It’s a well-known fact that Leonardo saw his mistake, and was asking his patron for a “do-over”… – But he was out of paint, and the radio station contest required the painting to be submitted by 5 PM…

geezz, by the time I was 7, I already read all the encyclopedias at home, and I knew the Mona Lisa…………… it appears countless times in Cosmo and other mags for women, so even Tiff should know it, specially when she knew about cosmetology of ancient Egypt………… I think both Tiff and Lue are assigned kids of the same grade, so they did say bye to the kids from last years, and these are the new kids of that certain grade

    > I think Tiffany took the job to learn how to relate better with children, as an important segment of any potential future audience. (For instance, she sells videos to rug-rats at comic-book conventions when she goes there as the “Zeye” character.) The only way to learn that sort of thing is just by doing it, since classroom training can take you only so far in preparing for person-to-person interactions. Luann, on the other hand, took this job because it’s one of the few things she’s actually qualified to do, and because she can get away with using the time to do her own thing, as we see today.

I wonder how much Frank and Nancy are having to dig into their savings to pay for Luann to take courses that “teach” you the names of famous works or art that 99% of the population knows anyway, and calls it “art history”. Do you suppose the kids will find it more interesting when Luann brings in her textbooks for her courses in organic chemistry and partial differential equations? Oh, who are we kidding. We know that Luann’s next textbook is “Things That Are Green”.

@ORMouseworks“It is one thing to show a man that he is in an error, andanother to put him in possession of truth.”(John Locke, 1632-1704)-“Too many use the former, but not the latter.”.But showing an error IS offering a truth. “.. if misplaced…” ^Though ultimately (as compared to the real world) such discussions would seem trivial and “minutia”, it really isn’t. Such is the basis for “exercise of thought”, which is “working out the mental muscle”, which is the basis for taking up Debate in school (even on the smallest topic), and is also a good way to “build up fellow feeling” for our fellow man. It’s a good way to know how others think, and can help in relation to finding more understanding and empathy with others. – Though of course, some don’t care to relate to others, at all… whether on a forum or “in real life”….

“I understand why Luann is still working there. It makes no sense why Tiffany is still there.” ^In this context, it’s what D53 was mentioning. It’s there because it’s a good setup for a comic… – Plus, she can still use this for her own personal “work study” (albeit an unofficial program), and still get training through her classes. – Not to mention, maybe she needs the money? She might have a rich daddy, but “Daddy can take the T-Bird away”, along with the fat allowance, and make her go on a “budget” (even if for her, it’s still one that’s more than some third world countries)…

Don’t forget that unlike Tiffany, Quill is not only involved in the “on stage” part, but also the production aspects. Tiffany would be the actress with a day job or two, Quill would be the “whole kit and caboodle” when it comes to theater. – Also, Tiffany goes out for gigs periodically, which also shows she does have work, but such work isn’t as involved as Quill’s (who again is immersed in theater, while Tiffany is more of the “face looking for a place” sort of actress/model)….

     •  Reply
  49. Fb img 1492228790255

Also, to add: it bears out that Quill “lives and breathes” acting, while Tiffany just “breathes” it. Quill’s whole passions are centered around theatre/songwriting, and takes classes, in addition to having direct work/study, and preparations. Tiffany is an actress/model taking classes and periodic gigs, but hoping to be “discovered”… Which is what she said, in a short and succinct way, when she explained to Luann that she wants to improve her acting ability, which is the main reason why she’s here…. she works hard at it, but this is her “work study”, while Quill’s is of a more direct nature….

You state: “Evans, I know Tiffany is ditzy, but even Ox would know what the Mona Lisa is. Give her some credit.”++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I think Tiffany DOES know that the painting is the “Mona Lisa”. I think her answer is purposefully obtuse. She is commenting on what she thinks is the “flaw” of Lisa in the art work. I also think she is (perhaps without Luann realizing it) goading Luann a bit with the “eybrow” answer because she thinks learning to name paintings of famous artists is pretty simple and obvious.

If Evans wasn’t so dead set on making Tiffany look bad, he could have her explain that fashionable ladies of the upper class in the Renaissance period shaved or plucked their eyebrows and hairlines. Many painting from that time depict the practice; even the Madonna followed the practice.A Lady Reading as Mary Magdalene, 1520/40Right up Tiffany’s alley as someone interested in fashion, and as an actor, having to be familiar with costuming. But what fun is it in having her know something Luann doesn’t?

From what I understand, the Carlsbad plant should start producing water soon, in fact they’ve already raised our water prices in anticipation of the high cost of this water. I didn’t know even know about the other plant. What a waste.

“IQ depends more on what you know. And since it is flexible you can gain or lose on such tests.”.Nah, it is most dependent on ability to think. You can test an illiterate for IQ, teach her to read and not see some big change in intellect. This, by the way, is why there are limits to what teachers can accomplish. They have never been able to make aa 65 IQ student into a nuclear physicist. Some students can’t even learn to wipe their own rumps, no matter how hard they try.
