Well done comic strip…moral lesson to be given here as well as entertaining ..granted at 18 Lu Ann and Quill are considered adults but there are also responsibilities to be considered…and it looks like that is what is happening now…possible influencing younger readers who follow the strip too…for those who may have crossed the line on their own with out considering the consequences..possible some are now wishing they had stepped back when they had the opportunity..though publicly would never admit it..just not cool..but still..

Just like teenagers to get it bass akwords. But it looks like their common sense up bringing still might kick in. Have to wait and see.

Sure doesn’t look like they went all the way. All this wonderful attraction – to now fade, never to return?

Boy, it looks like Luann had more of the Roman hands then Quill. She really got busy on him!

It’s ludicrous to attempt to promote abstinence in this comic strip. It just seems so unnatural. They are in college now. Why not let them act like normal college kids? It’s silly to see them stopping to decide whether or not to be naughty—unless they are stopping to ask “do you have something to prevent pregnancy? I forgot to bring a ‘thingy!’” And I don’t think that’s why they stopped. Why write about it in the first place if they want to ignore real life?

Both Luann and Quill are a bit dishevelled, but decidedly not nearly naked. Nothing too “serious” happened; it’s not even certain Quill touched second base…. So, they have wisely stopped to talk before things go any farther. I take it as a hopeful sign.

Or they could be hesitating because they just aren’t ready. Not every teen is ready to jump in the sack without hestitation. It also doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with their relationship (however I don’t particularly view them as having a strong relationship but that’s due to multiple factors). I think I pretty much called it yesterday. As much “fun” as they’re having, alarm bells just went off for both of them. But we shall see.

Looks like Luann got more into it than Quill as Quill’s shirts is all unbuttoned. Then again, it being a family strip (accidental pun) there is a limit to what they can show happening to Luann vs Quill.

"-——————————Someone here mentioned “sex novels” as the proper place for this Luann arc. I almost mentioned the Bible but held off. .One book of the Bible “Esther” could be called such a story. It is, incidentally, the only book of the Bible that never mentions God at all..The Bible mentions all forms of sex (except Lesbianism) in full detail. Many things illegal now are mentioned many times and in great detail and never criticized at all (polygamy for example). Some violent things seem praised.

Yesterday Luann was the first to say “Uh…”. However, we don’t know whether she said that in response to something Quill was doing or in response to something that Quill had stopped doing! Given Quill’s history of trying to escape going “too far”, it could very likely be the latter.

Luann may calm down after the talk, re-evaluate what she was on the brink of getting into. That would IMO help Quill handle the situation in his way. He is focused on the long term, not like Luann ; most of the time. .However, Luann fought off Miguel Vargas’ advances (using trickery). He was hot to go..Quill seems far better controlled than Miguel..Are Spaniards less inhibited than Australians?

it doesn’t matter who stopped who or who initiated. They are both clearly into it but had the maturity to say ‘hey lets have a conversation regarding the next phase’. I think this is yet a 3rd growth step for Luann as of last week (1) she said nothing to Tiffany who was mocking and misinterpreting her statement about her "conflict’ (normally she might have joined in w/ a sassy comeback), (2) she recognized that the job offer was better in the long term (than a week w/ Quill in NYC), and now (3) wanting to establish a love affair w/ Q but recognizing certain boundaries that need to be discussed before they are crossed. Good arc overall..

I suspect Gunther isn’t so much asexual as simply scared of physical intimacy. It was probably his plan to be intimate with his wife 2.5 times during the course of their marriage, to conceive the children. On those 2.5 occasions he planned to think of sewing, to get him though it.

I think Quill has been, and is continuing to be, a good influence on Luann. Sure, he has normal urges, but he tempers them with rational thought.

Absent his presence, I doubt Luann would have managed to mature this far this fast.

If (and this being in family newspapers, that’s not terribly likely) they did have actual penetrating sex, Quill would be the one stopping to take care of “protection”.

As it is, all they are doing is what used to be called “heavy petting”. Fairly harmless but allowing the relationship to either move forward or fail on its own merits.

From what I see in Quill’s behavior, he’s a keeper.

Which is why I lost some respect for him after comments were ended. For a guy that spends a lot of time in his strips extolling the virtues of art, he misses a big part of it. Art is more than the creation of a work. After creation it is meant to be seen, heard, felt, experienced, enjoyed and yes, criticized. Throwing it over the wall without a chance for criticism neuters the consumer of said art in their ability to respond to the work.
