So Kirbee is more like an anole than an alligator. I still think Greater Sauroplex was based on an old stadium, like the Cotton Bowl, Sugar Bowl or Rice Stadium. But we had a hint last week that it was wooden framework with something like stucco on it, so it could have been a Steak and Ale.
Darkstripe’s post above for autotomy is a good explanation for how lizards can eject tails. On how critters can de-differentiate and re-grow…parts.The Six Million Dollar Mutant:
Harve Bennett: Steve Austin Kirbee, astronaut Good hearted Ditz. A man barely alive.
Oscar Goldman: Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world’s first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better… stronger… faster. meh, when it comes to medical costs, six million dollars isn’t what it used to be… But this is somewhat related to last week’s discussion. Massachusetts Lab grows artificial rat limb
A sad commentary on how life was in the lizardopolus. Don’t know if she is more surprised that an outsider cares or if it’s because nobody in her colony ever cared about her.The fact that her tail just came off under enough stress both phyicaly and emotionaly seemed to do the trick. I thought just the end would pop off. She may have enough physical memory of being human that she it will seem natural to her after a very short adjustment.I hope so and she might be able to get out with them and appear less reptilite.I would hope to be so brave to start over as she may be. Because looks like nothing is going to be left to stay for.

Well, let us hope that Kirbee and the rest can make it out of the colony alive…its all we can do at this point.

Details, de-tails.
Diat60 about 9 years ago
Well, that answers the question – losing the tail is an unconscious act. And Wally didn’t have to use his teeth, thank heavens.

Does the tail come off as a spontaneous reaction to shock & fear?

Don’t leave the tail behind – think steak dinner (precooked!).

Don’t tails aid in balance? Good luck with her walking ability (or lack thereof!) while waiting for it to grow back!

POIT? Now that is a unique sound effect for the tail popping off. Interesting choice.

I still say that she retains enough muscle memory of theyears before she was a lizard. With the whole tail gone, it will soon feel natural.
