Dad: Do you think Bran and Toni will have children right away? I'd kinda like being grandpa Frank, romping with little ones. Mom: It would be nice to have kids around.... Dad: Of course there are downsides. Dad: I guess it all comes down to those three little words: they're not ours.

My older brother didn’t come until nine eight years after his/my parents were married (I came the following year).

But what about the warehouse, Frank and Nancy? Won’t you be too busy with your project to get involved with babysitting?
Sisyphos about 9 years ago
Nitpicker here. Those are more than three words, Frank (ever heard of contractions?). Besides, however, grandparents are notoriously pushovers for advanced and extended babysitting duties. In other words, they might nearly as not be “yours” much of the time….
JayBluE about 9 years ago
Somebody else’s kids are like a library book- No matter what happens, you know you can still return them….. -When they’re acting cute, they’re grandma’s! When they break the neighbors’ glass? “That’s your child! Go handle that!”

I count four words. They. are. not. ours.

I think that is supposed to be Brad and Toni as kids.
dlkrueger33 about 9 years ago
Everybody thinks that the drawing is of little Brad and little Luann, but I immediately thought Frank was imagining a little Brad and a little TONI. Little Luann did not look like this, if you remember the early strips.

hopefully, they won’t have kids at all. Too many already.

We spent yesterday on a picnic in the woods with our grandchildren and their parents. The squirt gun fight lasted about an hour. We learned as parents that these times disappear very fast.
luann1212 about 9 years ago
so how did luann and brad happen?
luann1212 about 9 years ago
They will inherit a kid, Shannon.
sassymm about 9 years ago
Considering all of the grandparents raising their grandkids, you can’t always give them back. That said my daughter and her kids recently moved from very close to 1000 miles away and I miss all of them. I even miss temper tantrums and fights while we were babysitting. Halloween and Christmas will be the loneliest this year..

who is going to get pregnant first Toni or Luann
Sheriff Mordecai Premium Member about 9 years ago
Fortunately grandkids have no memory of the brutally tough “I’ll NEVER do this to MY kids” restrictions we placed on our teenagers, so they’re the ones you groom to put the plug back in the wall when your kids unplug it. It’s only a touch of bronchitis, son, really…"
Grandkid no. 3 is coming soon. I’ve just dated myself, but this place is full of boomers anyway.
locake about 9 years ago
They should probably get married first. That may not happen for years.
Thomas Scott Roberts creator about 9 years ago
If that’s Brad and Luann as kids, she looks like a scaled down version of her current self- not the younger Luann from the early strips- or from other flashbacks.
Sheila Hardie about 9 years ago
It’s best when you can take them home at the end of the weekend.

Don’t expect Toni to have kids. Period
maverick1usa about 9 years ago
. . . are years apart,-———————————-Right & apparently Greg can’t either because Luann looks older than Brad!

Is this a preview of what is to come?.You know… I always thought that Luann could end with Toni being pregnant – kind of ala Kathy?

I’ve told my daughter that her dad and I are going to give her kids each their own noisy toys. As in those Fun in a Drum set.

I see a lot of original art up close. What Greg makes look easy ain’t. He might be loyal to blood, but his standards in line work and consistency are not acquired overnight and I suspect he will accept nothing less than a clean handoff if and when he steps back. Pat Brady (Rose is Rose) turned the graphics over to a top shelf pro. Business is business.

.We saw some new persons — ‘The Director’ and the back of two heads, one may be Sun on her road back to rehabilitation. Of course we may never see ‘The Director’ again, but we could. He or she is the first non-ugly character that has appeared here for a long time.

But what next week?.Well Piro has his bed-roll stashed in Bernice’s room — planning to camp out again. But that sub-plot may just be dumped. A QUESTION: Is Piro actually attending Mooney U., or is he just a friend of a friend of a student??.Perhaps we will get to Luann on her campus by Monday. Let’s hope so. But no Zebo please! Some other class, new people. .Of course, we may move on to learn about the mysterious ‘Prudence, ’or at least learn more about of Quill’s ‘New York future.’or maybe we will find CEO Gray at the infamous warehouse, or see Tiff and Gunther in one of the classes that they signed into together, or Brad and Toni’s marriage plans finally becoming real, or Ann E. getting even with T.J. — as she swore she would, or find out how Elwood views his marriage proposal to Luann,or find out if Dirk and Derek still exist and if both are still reformed, or see Luann’s grandparents again,or learn how Jonah Daytona is doing and how he feels about raising Shannon,or find out more about Tiffany’s parents,or learn enough about Rosa to make sense of her withdrawal syndrome in Peru,or find out more about T.J.‘s finances and his crime family,or find out where Bernice’s brother Ben has wandered off to,or find out how Zane is doing in his veterinarian studies,.or … move ahead on any of the many other hanging arcs.….

“Little Luann is the one running the firehose. How things can change.”*BS – firehose? I thought it was a poisonous snake spewing venom on Brad, as Lu so bravely strangles it. She gets no credit.
doverdan about 9 years ago
What if “little Braddy” has the flowing blond hair and “little Toniyette” has the spiky black stubble-like hair ??.All in the genome. Can you picture that?

Brother and I are 4 1/2 years apart and still had that kind of relationship at times.

These Sunday strips makes you appreciate the daily stuff with a running story line. Like will tomorrow bring the return of the mysterious Mr. Gray? Will Gunther wake up on Tiff’s couch in her dorm room and have to ’splain to a lot of folks what happened?
Argythree about 9 years ago
-_Loyal to blood? Ask his first daughter how loyal he is…_
First of all, if I understood Sheriff M correctly, what he was saying was that Greg Evans might or might not have an interest in passing this ‘toon on to family members when he retires, but he would make certain that whoever took over the artwork was professionally capable of meeting the standard that Evans wanted to have maintained.
Secondly, while most posters here may not be aware of all the details involved with Mr. Evans’s first child, it is unlikely that most of us feel in a position to cast ‘first stones’

No one here “knows” to what degree Karen’s collaboration is visible to us, whereas an artist’s hand is plainly evident. What an axe grinder.
