Roy’s riposte — “takes them about 2 years to become saplings and about 80 to become trees on which we can lean; I’m not going to be holding the sack THAT long”
Roy is another character who sort of disappeared. He served to introduce Peppermint Patty, and like here, they had some strips that were mostly the two of them talking. Then Marcie came in, and Roy went out.
Peppermint Patty is a different character. All the other characters have adult traits (except possibly Snoopy). Patty is just a kid. You don’t expect something philosophical to fall out of her mouth.
Peppermint Patty was a minor character until Marcie came along in 1971. Many of the strips involving her from 1966 to 1971 were heart-breaking, such as the Father’s Day Sunday strip which Schulz drew in 1970. Heh – notice how Roy has his name written on his shirt.

A grain of truth there, Peppermint Patti. Just one little problem that I’m betting Roy you. Takes time for plants to grow from their seeds.

Why don’t they call them oakorns?

“From tiny acorns, great oaks grow,” or something like that.

Or oak seeds or oak nuts…

OK, so I’ve never seen the movie “Seven” (I’ve seen clips)…so why did I “hear” the first panel like “What’s in the BOXXXXXX!!!!!”

I predict that when she grows up she’ll run for Prez as a Republican.

Love Roy’s shirt! Guess it’s his winter look.

I love those white hats you see on Roy and the other characters when they go to camp.

Just add dirt and sprinkle in some water, Roy, then wait…..

Peppermint Patty always seems to have high expectations. She can grow up overnight if she wants to so those acorns should be able to as well.

The old joke was, “How do you get a hundred feet up in the air? Sit on an acorn and WAIT.”

I think Roy will be safe unless there is also soil and water in the bag!
For now, anyway…

Just like eating watermelon seeds will make a watermelon grow in your stomach.

Great oaks from tiny acorns grow. Great aches from little toe-corns grow.

I was always told not to swallow Watermelon Seeds, for approximately the same reason, more or less!
