I officially declare that this comic has “jumped the shark” and that Greg should turn in his pencils now.

What a nightmare for Bernice. I mean, what lady would wear a man’s boxer shorts?

Piro, of course, has never epressed even the slightest romantic interest in Bernice (or, for that matter, in Tiffany). Bern is just a nut case when it comes to guys (as we have seen before).

This is a dream sequence which shows that bernice is very attracted to Piro, and vice-versa, and Gunther is very attracted to Tiffany and vice-versa. At least she thinks that way in her dream. Boxer shorts indeed!! Very Freudian! Of course Gunther wants to ask her out, but she does not know that, while Piro might possibly be getting to know Tiffany much better, since he might be bunking in her room for the night. I think that Greg absolutely knows what he is doing because now we all are going to buy the paper, or read GoComics to find out what happens next. Plus the arc jumps the weekend. Just thought I would add my 14 cents before I hit the sack for the night. -:)

I think this arc is interesting. Almost the old bedroom swap plot. Berenice’s dream sure seems to reflect attraction on her part.

Actually, this is pretty intriguing. Bern thinks Gunther and Tiffany are an item because she saw them together after curfew; she thinks she and Piro are an item because they broke curfew, too.Or she envies the G&T relationship and wants one with…Piro (the closest candidate in her life right now). Or she’s in competition with Tiffany for men. Any way you dice it, Bernice needs a relationship. It will stop her rounds, too.

Very atypical strip for Luann. I do love panel one though with everyone happy and lovey dovey.

Nice twist, even if it is just a dream. I like the physical contact between Gunther and Tiffany.

I notice in this dream no one is talking about the girls giving anything.

7Wow. Interesting on a variety of levels!1. However, the jumping to this “dream sequence” seems to me a bit jarring, however. I am now left to wonder if Bernice went back to Tiffany’s room looking for Gunther, or if she stayed in her dorm? I am presuming she would have been “upset” if she visited Tiffany’s room and saw Piro there. But, if she did not visit Tiff’s room and see Piro, it seems a bit odd that she is now dreaming about the two of them (and TIff and Gunther) as couples. 2. The implication that Bernice is dreaming about getting Piro’s “boxer sh….” is pretty racy. It leans towards implying intimacy…. but rides the line without being blatant pretty well. 3. Not so sure if this is true any longer, but a few years ago it was “fashion” for women to wear their SO’s boxers as pajama bottoms. Not sure what the meant implication is, but there are a lot of suggestions.4. That Bernice is slapping herself awake after this dream is interesting as well. Is it suggesting that her “id” is wanting something that her “superego” is trying to banish from her mind? Freud could perhaps have a field day.Remember, a cigar is just a cigar…. unless is isn’t.

I wish all the insulting haters would just go away!

What the hell happened to “Pru”?

Bernice is having a dream, dreams are often weird and don’t make any sense. How is that bad writing? The quality of today’s comic is the same as all the others going back a long time.

Before Bernice went to bed and started dreaming, did Des tell her that Gunther had come to their room to see her?

Apparently not. Looking at opposites attract.

You are correct in where the name came from. But that episode also signaled that the writers of the show had kind of run out of ideas, so they threw out this idea that was so outlandish, they thought it might reawaken interest in the show. Instead, they actually ended up driving some long time viewers away.

As a result, TV critics and others who follow a particular show (or ‘toon) will often note an episode that they thing is the ’jump the shark’ episode, after which the TV show or whatever continues to decline in both popularity and stories that followers are willing to accept…

And a lot of them actually post on ArcaMax, rather than GoComics.

I think this strip is one of the funniest ones drawn lately.

Bernice is beating her own head, because … ?

Congratulations! ,This is a good-old Greg-type fun-strip.I hope Karen thought it up..If so, there is hope.

I figured it was a dream by the second panel, because I couldn’t picture Tiffany wearing woolly socks. (After all, look what she wore when she went on her field trip with Gunther…)

And the third panel, showing Bernice with multiple piercings on one ear, convinced me that Bernice was having a nightmare. Can’t imagine her with even one piercing…

I think Tiffany modeling Gunther’s socks is funny, and so is the look on her face.

I really want to see Gunther and Tiffany share another “moment”, a moment of some heated making out without worrying about it. Break the sexual tension and let them enjoy each other, it doesn’t have to be wild sex, just a guy and girl enjoying a little exciting romance. The whole Rosa thing was just a disaster.

At least Tiffany isn’t wearing one of Gunther’s graph-paper shirts. Yet.

Deep down.. this is what Bernice wants, dreams about….(not a nightmare in my view) for Piro and her to be an item, leaving Gunther for Tiffany. But rude disappointment is on the way when the reverse of that later on presents itself to her… i.e. Gunther asks her out and Piro is in Tiff’s room

Hopefully dreams come true and Bernice and Piro will be a romantic item!

This strip is really becoming a mess. Too many unresolved issues. New characters like Pru who are out of place and badly drawn. TJ & kablooie. Ann Eiffel. Mr. Gray. The Gunther & Tiff thing is a joke. Bernice is power hungry and useless. Anyway, this strip used to have some flow and continuity. Not any longer. About ready to give it up. Worse than a soap opera. OK, rant done….

Could also be that Frank, feeling sorry for the fatherless Gunther, had passed his hand-me-down shirts on to Gunther…

Piro didn’t ‘make’ Bernice break the rules. She decided to do that, either because she felt sorry for him or because (as some say) she likes him.

It’s hard to see how she could be attracted to him, though, when she knows next to nothing about him. That would be an attraction based solely on the physical, and Bernice is supposed to be too common-sense a person for that. Right?

But count me among those who think Piro is homeless, and possibly a vet with PTSD. That would partly explain his favoring silence…

Piro’s star may not be a haircut, but a piercing with a gold star showing.. (That is, it’s a piece of jewelry)

Implausible said, Yikes. . . . . A hobo watched a movie (no talking during it!) then crashes on Bernice’s couch and she’s now in love with him. I think it’s interesting that Bernice’s dream included Gunther and Tiffany at all. Why would she dream of a competition for best boyfriend between them and her and Piro? An interesting glance into Bernice’s head:)

Welcome to the new age of web-based comic strip marketing. Good or bad… You come to consume at the trough. But in your heart of hearts, you know this strip is good. REALLY good. Mwa-ha-ha-haaaa… Kneel before ZOD!!!

Implausible:My hope is that Piro DOES NOT turn out to be “traditionally” homeless. I would much rather his character have a more unique sort of back story, perhaps something like:I think it would be interesting if Piro either a) used his student loans (after paying for tuition) for silly things and now does not have enough money to pay his dorm room, so he left the dorm room he had and now “bums” around sleeping in other student’s rooms when he can, or b) he is from a rather “well-to-do” family who has purposefuly “cut-him-off” from funds to try to get him to “grow up”, or c) he is really just not that concerned with having a place to stay and LIKES bumming around like that. To me, those foci would be more interesting than would be a “very important special episode” (ala After School Special) about poor, homeless Piro, who has PTSD and never had two pennies to his name ever. Please do not get me wrong…. I know and understand about real homelessness like that, where people do not have access to resources (sometimes across multiple generations) to help themselves up and out of poverty of that nature. But, I am just saying that I am hoping Greg isn’t going down such a melodramatic route as that with Piro.

Thanks for the feedback, which I will take into consideration. Meanwhile, I continue to read in hopes that either something happens that straightens out the mess created by all these story arcs or an earthquake removes the entire Luanniverse from existence.Perhaps I should refrain from further comments, though.

To “Implausible”. What a great drawing! And Luann looks like her Mom. Was this a Greg Evans vision or did somebody else draw this?

It’s comment pages like this that remind me why Mr. McEldowny had the comments sections removed for his comics. So many critics for a free to them product.

Oh, BTW, if anyone is worried about critics of the comic, don’t be. They visit the site, read, and comment, making many clicks, thus sending the Luann train down the tracks just like the people who love the comic. The only thing that could stop it is indifference.

Just like Oscar Wilde once said: “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about”.

We need some “Sun” shine. Bring her back, redrawn as an intelligent and attractive Asian girl. Piro and Viper give me the creeps. Dez is what? She drinks tea but doesn’t study. Bernice is a painfully plain girl, as is Luann. Tiffany and Toni and Rosa and Nancy are attractive enough to draw attention to the strip but the guys are very bland or crude. This really is a female driven strip and the guys mostly just get in the way.

Boxer shorts??? Ewwwwwwww…

My prediction… Bern will get up early tomorrow and spot Piro sneaking out of Tiffany’s room.
