Jeffrey: Ok, see the Atlantic Ocean, Danae? Danae: Yep...thousands of miles of flatness, which proves the earth is flat! Thanks, Jeffrey! Jeffrey: No...the important thing is what you don't see. Danae: Which is...what? Jeffrey: Europe...you'd be able to see it if the earth was flat. Danae: Oh...in that case...LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA Jeffrey: O-o-o-kaay...good talk.

Danae has really gotten into singing the Smurfs theme song.

Perhaps Capân Eddie could explain it to her.

The ocean is not flat. The curve is clearly visible on the open ocean.

The Earth is flat. It is a flat elliptical plane, with an average radius of about 93 million miles. We live on the very edge of a flat disc, most of which is empty space (hollow Earth) and has a Sun at its center. Why⊠everybody knows that!I think it was even an Aerosmith song back in 1993.

Of course the world is round. And flat. And it rides on the back of four elephants, who in turn stand on the back of the great turtle AâTuin, swimming through space.

Danae is using a thing that rabid christians do when confronted by any refutation of their lunacy. That and singing hymns loudly. See, they canât burn a dissenter at the stake anymore. Making the USA a christian country is a plank in the platform of the Republican party. G. Bush said, while president, that atheists shouldnât be considered American.Just wait, itâs coming.

No problem explaining that Jeffrey. You COULD see Europe if it wasnât obscured by the haze of the atmosphere. Also, Europe is very far away, so it would probably appear too small to see.

Danae, Sounds like a perfect climate change disciple.

I think this is all about rapper B.o.B. And Neil Degrasse Tyson. B.o.B. thinks the Earth be flat and Tyson disagrees.

A better way of showing that at least the ocean is curved is watching a ship sail up over the horizonâŠ.first all you can see is the masts, then the superstructure, then the hull.then again perhaps gravity repels light so it only looks like its curved :)

just like some people believe that the cubs will win the world series. or, buffalo will win something. or, cleveland will win something. or, there will be peace in the middle east. or, trickle down theory and supply side economics will create everlasting prosperity.

Liberals make fun of Conservatives for getting their information from Fox News and take their points from a SNL skit. SMDH.

Gosh, I had hoped that Jeffrey would be able to solve Danaeâs little dilemma. All this time had thought a precocious little girl like her would know better then to act like some republican office holder. Maybe it is too risky to figure out those little things in life. Time to get back to daily ânormalâ living. Oh, oh, forgot, dis is an election year. Some one lefta gate in the zoo open.

Itâs obviously round as anyone can see just by watching a tall ship leave the harbor and go out to sea.

Ignorance is one thing, but doubling down on oneâs stupidity is something else. It used to be funny, but in these treacherous modern times itâs downright dangerous.

ââŠinterviewer Charles Gibson asked her what insight she had gained from living so close to Russia, and she responded: âTheyâre our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.â http://www.snopes.com/politics/palin/russia.aspSo she did say that itâs possible to see parts of Russia from specific points in Alaska, and she was correct, although it was not an adequate answer to the question she was asked.

LameHawkTechnically yes, but the Diomedes are far off the coast of either country. I was gallows amused by all the panic over âthe Russians are 90 miles from our shore.â They had (and have) a major naval base 12 miles away on Big Diomede and no one is concerned.
