Who goes to bed THAT early, ANYwhere?

10:30? They are just getting started at that time in NYC. It’s late to bed early to rise there. Not much sleep. Definitely need strong coffee.

what kind of college students are these 2 if they think 10:30 is late? Late is like….there is no late, there is only early: you go out for the night and spend time until its 3-4 am and by then its early in the morning

It’s a family strip so the slinky outfits won’t be too slinky. Unfortunately the party panties will probably be left to the reader’s imagination.

I puzzled over “Club Foote” for far longer than I should have, and when I suddenly got it, beer came through my nose.

A lot of clubs deliberately keep a line of people wanting to get in to maintain the illusion of being popular

They are still exhausted from the trip up and no time to rest. I think it’s rude of Pru to make their schedule on the spur of the moment. They’ll stay up all night tomorrow. Let them rest

Lots of people who have to leave for work by 6:00 or 6:30 need to get up by 5:00 or 5:30, and the lucky ones among them still manage to get up to 7 hours sleep by retiring at 10:30. (Most of them routinely make do with 5 to 6 hours sleep, though.) Dunno about the DeGroots – Luann certainly doesn’t strike me as an early riser. Bernice maybe gets up early to start her R.A. busybody routine at first light.

This rings true for me. When I visited NYC and stayed with a local yuppie friend, dinners at 9 PM and fun after that were the norm. Pru has just forgotten that most of the world doesn’t live like that. Nonetheless, if Pru is making all these arrangements from the West Coast, it’s 1:30 a.m. back there. She’s looking awfully chipper (and dressed) for 1:30 a.m.!

7I can understand the feeling of being tired from the airport travel itself, so I can imagine a relatively early night the first evening. Something seems odd about the drawing style of the gape-mouthed Bernie and the similar drawing style of the gape-mouthed Stacy from last week. Not quite sure what it is, but it seems IMO distinctly different from Greg’s normally wonderful, clean, very pleasant style. It seems almost as if the gape-mouthed drawings were done by someone else. I sincerely doubt they were, but…. it really to me just seems “different” than the usual manner and detail of Greg’s drawing style. Perhaps it is some sort of homage to Charles Schultz? :) It has (to me) more of a “Peanuts” sort of look. For me, the nicest part of the drawing in the last panel today is the showing of the outline of the lamps of the room in white. I think that was done really in an attractive, interesting way that highlights Greg’s drawing skills. He had to make very careful decisions about the color and style of that drawing to still allow it to imbue the feel of a darkened room. I think that was wonderful.

As a one-time New Yorker, the expression “Museum Mile” is new to me, but I assume it was borrowed from Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. It would have to refer to the museums on or shortly-off Fifth Avenue: The Frick Collection, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim, going north, and I assume the Museum of Modern Art, a bit to the west. Not sure where the new Whitney is, and I have no idea what else would be included in the guide books. Only a guide book for newcomers to NY with very limited time would recommend seeing more than one museum in a day. Maybe two for the indefatigable.
Anyway, museums tend to have very hard floors, and standing on them in front of art works can be hard on the legs. Even if you keep moving, serious museum going can be exhausting, even if you are only twenty and eager. My point is that of course Luanne and Bernice are going to be tired. If Luanne wakes Bernice and they respond to Pru’s urging I will think less of all three of them. I think L&B should decide their own movements in New York. Serendipity and adventure leading to their own discoveries might be a lot better and more fun than going on Pru’s remote controlled tour—especially with revisions on short notice late at night.

I’m retired and a night owl. The world is a quieter place in the wee hours and mornings always seem so bleak. Now, if Pru straightened her hair and got some eyebrows, she could be a pretty hot lady and a lot of guys would be trying to “convert” her to the hetrosexual way of life.

This is at least their third night in NYC. They got in and went out to dinner with Ex-stacy, the next day to the bakery, art exhibit and zip for two hours, and today they spent all day on Museum Mile.

In bed by 10:30? That’s not realistic; today’s young folks stay up at least until midnight, mostly texting each other.

The whole concept here is to portray innocent, wholesome, sweet, “good” Pitts girls as they are confronted by the NYC den of iniquity that is the breeding ground of wicked theater people like Pru (and soon, Quill). When Luann and Bern do get out of bed and go to this hot club where Pru has arranged for them to get in, they will go to the bar and order a glass of buttermilk.

LOL! Puzz, I have bilateral skew z clubfeet with varus ankles and did not mind the joke at all. In fact, i coukd see such a club having a footwear requirement of colorful hitops with low heels or low wedges! I would wear my wedge hitop sneakers that have multicolor stripes along with dotted socks that match two of the colors.

JPuzzleWhiz… sometimes, when I am unsure, I ask questions that may seem obvious and foolish to others. But, it is the only way I learn and try to improve… so:In your “Club Foote” post…. were you being satirical or serious?Usually, I can “read” whether something is meant as satire or serious fairly easily. But that post where you were talking about Club Foote….. not so sure. I could see your comment being meant both ways. So, until you tell me otherwise, I am going to presume you were being satirical.

For a sprinter, until the ankles go, bilateral flexible clubfoot that has been approached w PT and bracing early on is a distinct advantage due to the springiness of the feet. Not every difference is a shortcoming in all ways.

Has anyone ever laughed at a “bald joke”? Has anyone listened to a song parody (Weird Al/Collections curated by Dr. Dimento/Stan Freberg/Alan Sherman/They Might Be Giants, etc)? Then chances are, we’ve all listened to/been entertained by/still reference something similar to what was mentioned, today.- If one was actually or directly teased in the joke, made to feel inferior, that’s one thing. But if someone mentions a joke where a life situation is mentioned, only in general, perhaps we should check and see if we’re drawing too many lines in the sand. Maybe soon, the mere mention of the words themselves would get banned. Then, nobody would be able to make a joke about anything …even if someone, somewhere (even unbeknownst to us) didn’t mind….someone who perhaps appreciated it, as their own coping mechanism, in dealing with it….
