Somehow, I don’t think this instalment would need to have been part of the story arc unless Quill was about to make a re-appearance…

Pru is just about hitting on Luann. She wants to be more than just a big sister.

It seems to me that Pru has been subtly working overtime to get Luann focused off of relationships with guys in general, and instead focus on relationships with girls as “better”. And thus far, it seems that Pru is having a lot of success. I think she’s personally targeting Luann, wanting to become the next Quill. That’s ironic, because initially Luann thought Pru was trying to steal Quill. The big question is just how far Luann will acquiesce, and over what time frame. It also seems that Pru might have been keeping her options open for Bernice, but it appears that Luann is her main target. Maybe she prefers blonds. And if Lu and Pru get married, whose parents will have to pay for the wedding?

Pru looks like a female version of the Dick Tracy villain, Cofeehead!

I still don’t get all the hate for Quill. Remember the Valentine’s Day he had her folks place gifts in her room and set it up so they could skype? And It was Pru who was always texting him. He had to work to pay the bills, and he’s excited about getting his career started.

I agree. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of Quill.

But this is an instance where I think it’s okay for Luann to be about ME, ME, ME. She broke up with her boyfriend, did something un-Luann-like (by going to NYC), and can focus on herself for awhile.

Hey don’t know if this is an entry into another arc involving Quill, but it clearly sets the stage for the next set of events in Luann’s life itself. Luann seems super-confident and happy, while Pru interestingly notes that SHE has not heard anything for Quill either. Perhaps he has turned the page? So now the question of the day is are we going to do something more with Luann herself for the next few strips, or will be peeking in some of the other characters, such as Gunther and TIffany, or Rose (?), or Bernice and Piro (?), or Toni and Brad, or any number of other possible combinations, I would like to see Delta myself, and I really would like an arc detailing how that sweet odd couple, Knute and Crystal are doing. All the reason why the strip “keeps pulling you back” like Al Pacino’s character said in Godfather 3 (I know, I know that particular member of the franchise was not very good, a brooding Al is better than an aging, harried Al [Michael], but I hope the point is taken. Too-tell-loo everyone.

Pru does a lot of the big sister/older cousin stuff.

Luann might have said, “Who?” But i thought, “Why?”

At first i wondered if the Pru character might wznt to get them together again, but i somewhat doubt she is intrusive to that extent. (Obviously, i coukd be wrong.)

She might be just che king Luann’s state of mind, especially since she filled the soggy shoukder role, but i think more might be going on.

I think she might be interested in something more character building. My suspicion is that she might gradually help both Luann and Quill see each other’s viewpoints, not to get them together but to keep peace. She may have been the foster child who got the younger ones to talk things out and find new solutions.

I suspect that Quill and Luann might become friends. That certainly happns. With most of my exes back in the stone age when i was dating it happened.

Learning to understand an opposing viewpoint and its presenter, even though pain was involved, is a huge part of growing up, and it by necessity goes along with accepting that we all make errors and therefore that being too defensive — too prickly — is a barrier to communication and to relationships, in friendship, in work, in family, in learning, in romance, and more. These are essential life skills.

Luann actually seemed to have a decent time in NYC. And she learned that she could do it without Quill. That’s at least part of growing up.

I hope that Quill remains forevermore out of the picture. I hope that Luann keeps the “who is that guy” attitude as well. I like Luann’s “apple” sweater from NY more than I liked here two tone green shirt from NY yesterday. I wonder if perhaps there will be more of Luann and Bernie telling others about their trip? So far, it has been 1) Luann’s Parents, 2) Dez,, 3) Tiffany, and 4) Pru. I would anticipate that it would be potential to have a comic this week potentially featuring Luann telling a) Brad & Toni, b) Jacque and Emo, or perhaps c) Gunther. I could see Bernie telling a) Piro.

A discussion in which a workaholic tells someone who is pleading for him to spend more of his time with her, and he responds rather testily that ’he’s living a life and she should try it’, is exactly the point. Seen it, done it, now paying the price…

-At least I’m relatively certain that our late father’s only ‘life’ was the business he was trying to run. Ironically, our stepfather years later also was trying to run a business he inherited, and keep guys who had worked for his father in jobs. BUT our stepfather knew what a balanced life was; most nights, he was home at least to join us at the end of a meal. Always available to help with math homework, and took little bro to All City Orchestra practice and baseball practice. (I was into dinosaurs; he took me to the museum a lot.)

I think that you coukd well be right, though i personally lean toward them instead becoming friends. My hope is that Luann has enough self-respect to not take him back as a romantic interest until he grows. Plus, i hope her dating scene becomes casual for a while as she discovers herself more.

I believe it will be a “bar” bar, with alcoholic drinks. Didn’t Mr. Gray refer to Prudence as having been a “bartender” in the past?

Pointspread, i realize you have said that you are from another nation, so perhaps you do not realize how extremely rude that statement reads.

I understand that for you people interrupting each other, as Luann does in today’s strip, comes off as terribly rude, so obviously to you it is, but you, too, will have to realize that there are differences among people and among cultures which permit certain behaviors to be acceptable under certain circumstances, and you will need to realize that in such cases when no one is hurt it is fine.

Obviously, if you had been part of their conversation it woukd have to have gone differently to avoid pain or insult, and learning that people and cultures differ is something i hope these characters experience, but we here — including you — need to realize that differing interpretations exist.

Meanwhile, please, find a gentler way to clarify what you wrote because it read as if you made a pronouncement about me and about my parents without knowing any of the individuals.

I have to admit that i also wondered if the post which read that way might have been from young Implausible. Granted, it just as easily coukd have a different author.

There are people here from a range of backgrounds and covering a wide range of ages. Part of the true beauty of this board is that so many of us find ourselves learning to communicate constructively and even as friends with peopke who differ greatly from ourselves.

That does mean that the occasional disagreement happens, of course, but part of being adult, or in some cases moving toward becoming adult, is learning how to navigate such new waters. The world is wide, but people are simply people, with more in common than different.

Now, part of that is realizing, too, that the moderators at GoComics are probably awfully busy with serious offences such as when people endorse violence or engage in true hate speech.

They are probably way too busy to fill the role of playground monitors, and honestly most of us here have shown time and again that we can peacefully work out our own differences with respect and understanding.

I realize that for some it can seem that the world is aligned against them when they do not realize that something was not meant as roughly as it seemed to read, but really that is not the case, so if that fear of verbal attack can be placed to the side while straightening out what is going on, then happy surprises are there to be found.

If not, then the reality is that for most here the majority of the participants are peripheral to their lives so their comments shoukd not matter overly much. There are also the ones who become friends, some even outside the comics comments sections, and ones who share excellent recommendations, so there are treasures, too.

That’s what I thought you meant, and I know the person you speak of. However I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt before assuming that without enough information. The comparison does not bother me in the least because the person I was addressing was clearly out of line, whoever I may or may not sound similar to for standing up to him.
