What happened to the Our IX Lives story? I wasn’t following it, of course, but there should be another episode for me to ignore.

Didn’t they just rerun this story line this month?
RH3 almost 8 years ago
Thanks Pepper Mac. I’ll have a look there, Just to check, of course. I don’t really care what happens next.

Checked. Only found part 6. When do we get our next installment?
RH3 almost 8 years ago
Ah! Someone had loaded the wrong strip. Here is the real thing. Not that I actually wanted it. I just like a bit of consistency in the universe.

How can Angora marry That Guy Brad if he’s buried under a pile of laundry?
Georgia Dunn creator almost 8 years ago
I hate to admit this… It was me! Sorry about that! Here is part seven! :)

I adore the way this strip has been coloured, especially Laundry Canyon. I would make that last panel in to a poster. :)

OMC if human soap operas were this good i would be watching them all the time :D
And i hate to admit this but Laundry Canyon looks an awful lot like the one in my bedroom… it’s runs close to Dust Bunny Hollow

What sort of drawing are you using now?
Georgia Dunn creator almost 8 years ago
@crabbyrino Same, still watercolors! The only difference now is I scan the inked drawing first before I paint, and lay it on top of the painted scan to keep the lines and inked bits dark. (And sometimes it is a pain to get the two scans exactly right to line up, it’s still a work in progress!) The color intensity itself is the same, the painted parts are still just watercolor washes. Only the inked parts are now darker, which I think has given the colors a new sort of vibrancy somehow in contrast, because many people are picking up on new colors and that’s been a surprise to me. I only expected the new tweaked black to be noticeable!

They are gorgeous as always. The colors are one of my favorite parts of the strip, along with the adorable animals, the story itself, the humor, and anything else I may have forgotten.

“And I’m closing in on your weird lunatics!”
Shouldn’t that be, “And I’m CLOTHING in on your weird lunatics!”
No? Too subtle?

Is Our Hero trapped in Laundry Canyon? Will he be able to deliver Snowball safely to Angora? Will Angora believe that Kit actually catnapped her father? Stay tuned!

OH MY CAT!! Bandit as the CopCat!
(*wife of a cop)

Did Bandit get caught under the laundry avalanche?!? I don’t see him anywhere in the last panel. And why am I so worried about a minor character in a made-up soap opera in a cartoon strip?Georgia, you are an amazing story-teller!

So glad to see the Our IX Lives strip this morning. I was a little concerned when the wrong one was there last night, but I was sure all would be well this morning. Georgia, you could blame Elvis being sick of silly soap operas and wanting to run his Christmas special, but he did seem to be a bit into the soap yesterday. :)

Wonderful story telling, Georgia, you really, really have a gift. I know at one point you were thinking about being a book illustrator for kids-but you could write, them, too. I read a great deal, in most genres, and you meet or exceed the standards of many published authors. Very inventive, whimsical, deceptively simple stories.

Well, now they can all get fined for destroying what I’m sure was a national landmark.

This is hilarious!

@LadyKat Yes, the black kitties—and all the black details—are solid ink now! When I scan the inked version, I set the levels to “.48” in Photoshop to make the black a deep black and take the pen marks out. Then I pull the inked sketch back out of the scanner, paint it with watercolors, and scan it again. I lay the inked scan over the painted scan and set the inked one to “multiply” (so all the whites are clear… A lot like turning it into a window, with the inked bits becoming wrought iron and the white becoming glass and now the paint shows. That’s how I think of it, anyway!) If I’ve lined the scans up right on the scanbed twice, they line up great and I’m on my way. If they’be been scanned slightly skewed to one side, (which sometimes happens when the door closes, however hard I try to avoid it) or if the paint has made the paper change shape a little, then I go in and tweak the inked part in a few places to shift it into focus.
I’m sure I’ll find better ways to do it as I go forward, but that is what works right now. All of the Sunday strips will be put together in this same method, so this is what they will look like (only at a Sunday size, like parts 1-5 of this special).

I sure hope that was a clean (laundry) getaway.

Ow ow ow signing up for something, ow…But it’s worth it to say how fantastic this is, congratulations and big long streamers and confetti, you’re marvelous and you give hope to new cartoonists who wonder if they can do it and for those of us who’ve tried and failed, it’s grand to see someone make it. I hang on every little arched eyebrow and cocked ear, you’ve got cats down pat. Well, as much as any of us primates can..

Laundry canyon?! I didn’t realize Our IX Lives was shot in my apartment!
Does anyone else hear dramatic organ music in their head at the beginning and end of each installment? ;)

Georgia, I’m loving this series – as I did your previous Christmas specials. I certainly hope you are considering compiling a book of Christmas specials – I would definitely buy it! Oh – a little secret – I bought your current book as Christmas presents for all my cat-loving family members! Remember, ssshhhhhhh!!! :)
