Don’t care, spill. Here we blame the rapists, not the raped, if it is family. Otherwise the rapist is protected too of then than not. Not kill them, just damage them to the point where they will be scarred for life.
Great strip. Almost every frame had a surprise, and drew attention to a new point of view. And the final quote, “This isn’t Pakistan,” was perfect.
Changes of facial expressions from frame to frame were great.
A few months ago, the Nobel Committee chose an unconventional American for the literature prize. With all respect to Dylan, they should have chosen Trudeau, the biographer of a generation for almost 50 years, who still gets better with age.
Regarding yesterday’s theme, if nothing defines “harmonic convergence” like Fidel Castro dying on the anniversary of the Elian Gonzalez rescue, nothing does.
@dipierro, good call, I agree 100%. And I am talking as someone who is a Dylan Homeboy. BD got his professional start 2 blocks from where I was born. (In fact my parents met in the first place Dylan ever played). Dylan’s lyrical skill cannot be doubted, but the brilliance of Trudeau’s political and social satire and pioneering cartooning equal or exceed that of Mr. Zimmerman. (Another interesting coincidence, my wife grew up just a few miles from Dylan up in the Minnesota Iron Range)
“BD got his professional start 2 blocks from where I was born. (In fact my parents met in the first place Dylan ever played).”
.
Did they maybe actually see Dylan’s first concert? (Did they know Izzy Young? I’ll be stopping to see him when I take a trip to Stockholm later this week. I could tell him “hi” for them… or they could do so themselves on Facebook.)
I was brought up on the story of how my aunt by marriage (the illustrator Margery Gill) was on the bus one day when some bloke started groping her leg. She didn’t say a word – just stubbed her cigarette out on the back of his hand.
Forget Hollywood. Think New York subways. When I lived there (early 1970s), I started walking to work due to the men who took advantage of the overcrowded subways.
It has to be “Pakistan” for a husband to want to make the people who hurt his wife pay for their actions? Even if you disagree with his point of view, you can at least try to understand it. Imagine if he had said to her, “‘The way things were’ is no excuse. You should have known better.’”
I was sexually assaulted repeated as a boy. Nobody cares. The government recently closed down the only place in the province that helps men with such things.

Frankly, I agree with BD, but I also know, getting arrested on assault charges isn’t really helpful. Listening and be supportive is though.

There was a time when Rape Was a Capitol Crime… That is it had the Death Penalty… That’s how it should still be today.

There were trump supporters who seemed to think his gross actions toward women were complimentary in some way. A lot of people voted for him.

leftwingpatriot,
It’s not just in Pakistan; it’s common practice throughout the Islamic world. It even happens on occasion in the U.S., in the Muslim community.

Talking about her saying they should always be believed unless the man could prove his innocence.
Or not talking about her…

My understanding is that Islam — as interpreted by the men, of course, since that is also part of Islam — demands it.
Any disagreement with their religious beliefs is anti Islamic.
(As a Baptist I’m already a rejector of Islam but many act as if all religions are equally good or equally bad.)
