You have to admit Valley Tech is alert. They’ve waited all game to blitz when No. 87 is on the field, and instead of falling asleep, they were right on it even though the game is nearly over.
In all reality , P 1 Milford is lined up off side . Heather’s secret play didn’t account for Milford being so poorly coached that they can’t even line up on sides .
“You’re a senior Heather so you will be playing a lot this week” “With 4:17 to go in the game Heather Burns makes her first appearance!”“Thanks coach!”
Apparently at least one player for Valley Tech knew what to do when Heather came in. He just did it a bit early. I wonder if that’ll tip Gil off to the upcoming blitz?
in P2 looks like he’s still running the tire drill from practice. I’ve seen that pose before on some of my old football cards from the 50’s.
With 4:17 left in a 4 point game the stands have emptied out. I guess they want to get to The Bucket before the rush.
And lastly, in P3 Gil finally calls the play that many here have been calling for for the past 2 weeks. But wait, Shuford flips the back to Moose on a flea flicker and he hits a streaking Heather Burns for the winning score. Good thinking Heather, streaking always distracts the defense.
So this amazing, unbelievable trick play will result in a 68-yard touchdown, making Heather a coaching genius. Too bad they didn’t think of this play that every team in the world runs weeks earlier, maybe they would have made the playdowns. And speaking of playdowns, don’t play down the significance of today’s Mopped Up Thorp: https://moppedupthorp.wordpress.com/
It appears from P1 that #19 is lined up near the line of scrimmage, like a DE. defensive ends don’t blitz. Defensive ends always rush. so that is not a blitz. Does anyone review these panels before they go to print?

It’s a draw! DUH!!! That’s not situational. That’s normal.

Make it even better by putting her in motion and taking one more defensive body out of the box.

So Gil had to run it by Kaz whether calling a draw vs a blitz was a good idea? How did he ever win a State Championship?

If God is merciful, this Shuford bloke will get stripped of the ball, and TD on the runback.

VT doesn’t appear to be any better coached than Milford, if they don’t notice Heather is in the game until after the teams are lined up.

WOW! Good thing they practiced this play for 3 weeks before using it. Maybe they can even leave it in their playbook for next season.

#19’s coming in like a locomotive off the tracks. If I were Milford’s #87, I’d better be on good terms with the trainer.

So, Valley Tech brought a Blintz? I hope they brought enough for everyone.

If you have a play to go to, and Heather burns is in the game too, nobody sits, putting on the Blitz.

Gil Thorp has reached an all time low. What a shock, a draw with Heather in the lineup. My goodness what next?

Today’s special guest star is Ted “The Mad Stork” Hendricks as # 19 for Valley Tech.

P2- VT’s #19 has the posture of Fred Gwynn’s Herman Munster. Like Coach Drool didn’t see a draw coming.

I’m with Starfish on the flea flicker guess — there’s got to be something more tricky to this “special” play.

Heather will save the day and then stop at Swifti Mart for milk and cigs later tonight

How come it took that long to figure that out. That’s Pop Warner football. When you’re getting blitzed use the draw.

Hey c’mon guys. It’s a visual pun. Think about it. R&W drawing a draw.

P1- Half Moon to blow this play dead- it’s either offside Valley or procedure against Milford.
twainreader about 8 years ago
@MOP with apologies to Pearls Before Swine: So R&W drew a duo of draws drawing out a poorly drawn devious dupe on VT’s D. Darn!
