Seems like running out is a feature of Toni’s family. Could that have rubbed off on Jonah? A fear of commitment, always running away from things? Toni is running toward something though: the love and security of Brad for her.

Good old Chad. Hopefully, for Toni’s sake, he won’t be a “Swinging Chad”…

A shame Delta didn’t come back to town for the wedding. It’s been too long since she’s been seen in the strip. Still, she is Luann’s friend rather than Brad’s, so that’s probably why.

Note also the uncomfortable way in which she shakes hands. I hate it when people do that! I find it so insincere.

Also, I just noticed that Toni’s speech bubble is cut off just where she was about to say the Aunt’s name. Guess we’ll never find out.

What’s Toni’s aunt’s name, BTW? :/

Hmmm… Toni’s Aunt seems nicer than I expected. We were led to believe that she wasn’t fond of kids, or very friendly, whatsoever.

Zubat? Of course Zubat ! You were expecting maybe Mew?

You’re right. Shannon’s not a brat; she’s a kid. Now, her great aunt … is a … bat.

At least Toni’s got some role models, even if they are negative – what not to be like can be as important as what to emulate.

Had no idea what a Zubat was. Now we know where Jonah’s behavior comes from. She does seem like a young aunt though.

As the aunt who had to raise at least two kids from a sibling, her advice to hold off on babies comes from a personal place.

With your comment being first today, I am just curious about why it seems people are so into debating the “brattiness” or lack thereof of Shannon when she is not in the comic today? But, that said, here is my opinion:
.
I think some folks see the word “brat” differently. For some (perhaps you, jackreacher) think of “brat” as being a VERY strong, very vehement slur of sorts at anyone being called that name. While others, I believe, think of “brat” in a more mild sense and it is not nearly so needing defending against as it seems others feel.
.
I guess I fall into the camp where “brat” to me is just a mild term…. and is suggestive of a kid (or adult for that matter) who is purposefully or inadvertently being a little annoying. To me, the use of the term “brat” seems to be no big deal.
.
In the manner of how I personally define the word, I would say that some of Shannon’s behaviors over time have been “bratty”… but hell, I would say that is normal and occurs occasionally for just about all kids who are Shannon’s age. I think (especially during the last 1-2 years) Shannon’s behaviors have been perfectly normal and within the realm of what you can expect and accept from young children.

Delay the babies is good advice, if a bit presumptuous. Of course, I tell me 35 year old younger daughter, no need to continue being so sensible.

We get to meet the aunt. She is strangely interesting. I tend to think more of her personality rubbed off on Jonah, than Toni (thankfully for Toni).
.
Unfortunately for me, today’s comic rings TOO true…. it is a damn near perfect mimic of every wedding reception I have been too over the years. It is kind of dull, a little uncomfortable, and kind of long, and filled with a lot of idle chit-chat. My wife also, (unfortunately for me) likes to stay at wedding receptions FAR longer than would be my preference. I would usually wish to leave and go home within an hour or two, but she usually likes to stay until the very end. The compromise that we have evolved into through the years is that she is automatically the “designated driver” for wedding receptions, gets to stay as late as she wants, and I sit around but get to enjoy a few more “adult beverages” than is my custom for other venues. As I am not a “rowdy” person by nature, I just become quietly “fuzzy headed”. :)
Pipe Tobacco Premium Member almost 8 years ago
Oh…. so, just for the record…. I think Greg is doing an EXCELLENT job of showing a typical reception thus far. But, I just find them dull. I am not saying Greg’s efforts are dull.

If the aunt raised both kids, I can see where Jonah gets his flakiness and disregard for responsibility. Gotta run.

Another dress comment: I’m always the type for a veil, even if it’s shorter and only on the back of the bride’s head. But after seeing the ribbons for a while, I’ve grown to think it is very appropriate for Toni. Gives the flow and decorative extra of a veil, without being a veil, and adds color. Very clever designer!

I think that the team made preparations for a reception dinner, let’s see who drops in for that. Are Gunther and Bernice there as a “couple”? Will Luann stay solo? Will Tiffany upstage everyone like Lady Gaga at a church social? And “the hook”……….what is Toni’s honeymoon surprise?

Jackreacher…. I will be sure to look. :) Please know I was teasing you about the first comment so that I could add my two cents about the “brat” issue. :)

You fill the footballs in a room at normal temperature – let us say 72 degrees F. You take them outside to very cold weather and the air will actually contract making it appear as if the footballs were under inflated. I do not like the Patriots organization at all, but has anyone ever thought of this scientific fact?

Sherlock Holmes and Watson decide to go on a camping trip. Sherlock awoke in the middle of the night, prodded Watson awake, and asked him, “Watson, dear friend – the stars above, what do they make you think?”
.
Watson replied, “I see the stars in the universe, and each star is a sun with planets in orbit around it. I cannot help but think that some of those planets may have intelligent life on them.”
.
“Watson, you idiot – If you are seeing the stars, it means someone has stolen our tent…”

“I am not interested in sports, but that is a valid question I have not heard yet.”
.
It was discussed quite a bit.
Using the ideal gas law and absolute temperatures and pressures,
The change in gauge pressure from 12.5 psi and 72 degrees Fahrenheit should be figured using:
Pressure gauge = (459/(459 + 72) ) x (12.5 + 14.7) – 14.7
or
Pressure = 8.8 psig as best I can figure.
Don’t actually know the playing temp, less drop would yield higher pressure
