Coming Soon š At the beginning of April, youāll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
There are two ads on this page wanting me to join the National Police Federation, who is seeking to become the official union for the RCMP. Interesting. I suppose RCMP officers probably read this strip.
Hey, I just checked out the Beta pageā¦.are we not going to be able to post comments? Not much point coming here, if thatās the case. Iāll be spending far less time on the site.
While looking for visuals from the āOuter Space Spiritā era, came across this selection of classic Spirit āSplash Pages,ā well worth a look ā¦

Oh deer! I was going back and reading a few comments and saw that I missed this. My apologies! Iāve been putting too much work into getting ready for my new semester of college. āhttp://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2017/01/05
I remember that one, and that is a good touch. Thatās what makes good writing. Little touches that make you think, instead of cliches
Also
You know; that has an air of truth? I remember Poul Andersonās āThe Time Patrolā where they go back millions of years to set up a base, then fully destroy it, when theyāre finished to keep from leaving a record. What you wrote then, would be very plausible. Fascinating!
Also, Eisner did employ a staff of assistants, which included, at various times ā¦

ā¦ Whew~!!
.
Not everyone was on-staff at the same time, mind you.
.
Those who happened to be āin the houseā at any given time might contribute story or dialogue, or pencil art ā¦ others inked ā¦ yet others lettered or colored.
.
Some of these names you might recognize from contemporaneous works ā¦
.
Jack Cole (āPlastic Manā)
Fred Kida (āAirboyā)
Lou Fine (āDollmanā ā āThe Black Condorā ā āThe Rayā)
.
Others, from later years ā¦
.
Alex Kotzky (āApartment 3-Gā)
Don Perlin (Marvelās āWerewolf By Nightā)
Joe Kubert (āSgt Rockā ā āThe Viking Princeā)
.
Sam Rosen & Ben Oda worked primarily as letterers, and were among the very best in the business.
.
So yeah, Eisner did have a little help ā particularly during his stint in the U.S. Army ā but that takes nothing away from the stripās success and vision.
Without the Refresh function I have to rejuice the entire page. If this keeps up I may stop talking altogether in addition to reading less than a dozen comics on this site. Maybe it will get better ? ? ?
I absolutely HATE this āNew and Improved Go Comics" siteā¦ took me about 2 minutes to figure out where in the blue blazes the comments were! What idiot greenlighted this revamp?
Really? So, it took me about 5 minutes to read the 8 comics I read on here every single day, and now it is going to take forever. Do these people work for Google aka the people that break something at least once a week that was working perfectly fine? Ughā¦
Of course Honeymoon is going to stick up for Pop Pop! Iāve noticed some of the names from the previous site didnāt transfer over accurately. Maybe the beta wasnāt ready to be a production release?
Hint: I guess it is necessary to go into your profile, and make sure your user-name transfers over accurately. I donāt really mind if anyone here knows my real name, but, for continuityās sake, because of ongoing conversations that have developed over these years, I changed mine back to āKen in Ohioā.
Some of my comments from this morning transferred over, but some didnāt, or maybe they are hidden.
@ Anyface:
Thanks for the link to those Spirit āsplash pagesā. I am amazed that Eisner produced a 7-page booklet with that much detail every week!!
Does anyone know how those booklets were printed and distributed? In those days, most newspapers really didnāt have presses equipped for full 4-color work like that.
People have been whining and complaining for a long time that they wanted threaded comments, but itās going to make it a lot harder to read everything because they are not in order on the page, so itās harder to find the new ones. Also, it does require a whole page refresh to see the new comments. That is one thing they might be able to improve upon for the future.
I see that the āWelcome to the new GoComicsā blog post, which had mostly negative comments, now has no comments at all.
To fix your display name, click your profile picture (beside the magnifying glass in the top right), go to āMy Profileā and click āeditā beside your name.
In case no oneās noticed it yet, under the banner atop the strip, there is a link on the right-hand side (looks like a mini-Earth) that takes you to the Dick Tracy Website.
Soā¦it has occurred to me like they are playing Spirit as younger than Tracy, which makes sense considering that the Dick Tracy strip has run continuously for 86 years and the Spiritās appearances have been irregular since the 12 years it ran from 1940-52. Consider, for instance, if this crossover had been in 1949. That year, Dick and Tess married after a long engagement, Chief Brandon was replaced by Pat Patton, and Sammy made his first appearance in the Spirit strip. If Sammy had teamed up with anyone, it would have been Junior, who was just entering his teens, and not his daughter! That is, Spirit has aged much more slowly than Tracy.
Woo Hoo! All the comments DO appear! We can scroll through them! It isnāt like a little window, where you canāt see what appeared before without scrolling (as I had the impression it was when I looked at Beta a few days ago)!
Greetings all and especially to VB! I was unable to check in since Friday and while itās taking a bit of getting used to, I do like the larger display format for the panels.
Canāt wait to see where this story leads! This story leads!

An impossible crossover between Marvel and DC, their Universes were just too different. But it was interesting to see how the characters interacted.
