Bernice is clueless.
♦
I wish they had left gocomics the way it was. I don’t like this new site at all. It took me an hour to have it show my username instead of my email name. And you still have to double click for a good line break. And you still can’t edit a comment without doing a cut and paste.

And what the heck is that “read more” thing at the bottom of my previous comment?

1) Sounds like GoComics’ new format is going to be hard to get used to. 2) Cannot wait to see Bernice’s and Ez’s adventure begin on this kind of patrol.

Hey. It looks like Dez has LOST a few pounds.
Or is it this new site….,
AnyFace about 8 years ago
The downside of connectivity is intrusiveness.
Robin Harwood about 8 years ago
What was wrong with the old format? This one is more difficult to use.
luann1212 about 8 years ago
I will have to get used to this format for comments. I don’t see too many people who had been commenting, so I will see where it goes. Change can be disconcerting.

She’s harshing Des’s vibe big time.

I miss the old comics.com site. You could “dislike” comments. It was hysterical.

EDBG1000, I left you a comment under where you asked Flash a question. I hope it helps.

Tips for the New GoComics:
Navigation Tip: Instead of right clicking the strip title and opening in a new tab|window as we use to do, right click on the speech balloon and open in a new tab|window. This way you won’t have to reload your comic page when you want to go to another comic.
Screen Name/Avatar: Click on your Avatar (top of the screen to the right of SHOP) and select MY PROFILE and click EDIT. Then you change your display name and/or update your avatar. Note: Your display name will appear in all caps regardless of how you enter it.
Editing a comment: Until you refresh the page pressing Ctrl + Z in the comment box will re-display your comment so you can edit it and then repost it (then you can delete the previous one). Note this does not work when using Reply.
Creating a Blank Line: Type Enter Enter Enter Enter ( stands for non breaking space)

On the new site, many of our usual display names got somehow reset to the prefix of our email address, or some such. If you notice yours is not displaying as usual, go to edit your profile and set your display name to what you want.

The new Go format (sorry) sucks.

Yup, the new site blows

Thanks Wizardgoat. I changed my display name!

Get over it and get used to it!

No I don’t have to get used to it. This is not what I want to pay for.

So what the hell is a “GC Insider”? What classified information are you privy to, or what are you inside of that we’re not? Can you reach inside the GC site design team’’s collective behind and pull their heads out?
Ignatz Premium Member about 8 years ago
This seems to me to be very similar. Click on faves, there’s all my comics. And they’re larger. What’s the big deal? Having to redo your defaults?
Ignatz Premium Member about 8 years ago
But then there’s this:
“Inside every server there is an internal error, just waiting for its time to shine. This one’s ours. We vow to cease its infernal shining ASAP.”
THAT’S the error message when something goes wrong?
æ² about 8 years ago
In my profile, my followed comics overlap my recent comments. Nice.

Bernice: “the ultimate cold shower”
Frank Farkel about 8 years ago
I’ve read the complaints about the re-do. You can click on an avatar to look at someone’s past comments, but it no longer tells you how many they have made. Because of this we won’t be able to celebrate Bouncing Betty or The 20% Solution reaching the 50K milestone. Sad. Obviously another crooked, lying media ploy.
Code the Enforcer about 8 years ago
Hmmm … Bernice has been using tech as seen in today’s strip, and she destroyed Dez’s moment of peace and serenity … That’s it! Bernice started this new website! Let’s blame HER!!!! :)
Sheriff Mordecai Premium Member about 8 years ago
Hmm … I seem to have given Bern a yellow thumb. Gotta get THAT fixed before the Sun defenders get on my case.
Frank Farkel about 8 years ago
Those stupid, annoying pop up ads don’t interfere with reading the strip or the comments. Much better. The strip is also larger for guys like me that need reading glasses. Also much better.
davecat about 8 years ago
This interface is really awful.

locake about 8 years ago
I don’t like having to sign in every day, having to click on the icon to read the comments and having to go to the bottom of the comments to add one. I do like the larger comic format, it is much easier to read.
kaffekup about 8 years ago
Or as they say, “Walk with me, talk with me.”
harkherp about 8 years ago
Agree, new format is the pits!! Guess will get used to it in the future???

This new site is awesome. Keep up with the technology GoComics!

Love the new format – don’t have to see the inane comments anymore…bye-bye
Seed_drill about 8 years ago
My sister-in-law actually went to Bhutan. It’s not an easy place to get to or back from! Where does Dez get her dough?
bigboxes about 8 years ago
I like the new format. How refreshing it is that we don’t have to see the comments unless we want to.
Brdshtt Premium Member about 8 years ago
@Bigboxes: On the old site, you also did not have to see the comments if you chose not to. You just looked at the strip and moved on to the next comic in your rotation. Easy Peasy. No Brainer.
ed0109 about 8 years ago
I like: The replies are in-line with the original poster, making it so much easier to see who is being replied to.
I don’t like: The “Reply” link button visually is too similar to the “nn Replies” button; should have a different font to make it easily stand out better. Better still, the tree should open automatically for the entire comic, as others have said here.
I also don’t like: The comments counter at the top of the page only counts original posts. It said “43 Comments” when I looked; in fact there’s over a hundred when replies are included. This is misleading as to the reach of the day’s conversations.
Night-Gaunt49[Bozo is Boffo] about 8 years ago
A family lived like it was 1885 for six months. When they returned from the 19th century they weren’t so enamored of the electronic heavy, time restrained, stressful 21st century. They in fact used their electronic devices less, spent more time outside and felt relieved not dealing with them. I found that very telling.
Sheriff Mordecai Premium Member about 8 years ago
If I did that I’d be spending ALL my time outside, probably under a bridge having lost my ability to earn income and keep a roof over my head. I’d love to be able to do things the old fashioned way in my line of work, and that was as recent as the early 90s, but it’s gone — not from memory, however.
Frank Farkel about 8 years ago
Wow. 6:46 CDT and only 47 comments. Definitely different. Change is …. I’ve always disliked change, but one has to deal with it.
Brdshtt Premium Member about 8 years ago
@ Frank Farkel: The wonderful new system does not count any of the replies, just the visible comments. If you include the replies the way the old site did, the number would probably be closer to 100.
Frank Farkel about 8 years ago
I am not going to be the guy who fills in all of the psychobabble that is missing today from the comments section. I’m thinking of Fred Astaire singing to Ginger…“Heaven, I’m in Heaven…”

In JayBluE’s absence, I offer the following “titles”
“This May Come As A Chakra To You”
“Bhutan Scootin’ Boogie” (♪♫)
“The Alignment And The Assignment”
“One Moment, Please”
“Perish The Thought”
Sisyphos about 8 years ago
JPuzzleWhiz about 8 years ago
One more “title”:
“Walk This Way, Talk This Way” (♪♫)
Schrodinger's Dog about 8 years ago
Another problem I see with the “Replies” staying hidden unless chosen for a specific original comment: it’s going to suppress the total comments count since people will no longer be replying to replies as much. You have to click every comment/reply combo to read them all, and re-read if new replies posted since your last visit, something less likely to be done. So you may not know, for example, that AGENTX gave a reply to CINDERELLA327 that in turn you would normally post a further comment on. Long discussions will in some ways be stifled.
gromit82 about 8 years ago
While I don’t love the new format, I do appreciate the fact that the strips are now shown in a larger format. For example, I had never seen the nameplate on the Cottage 4-2 lady’s desk that revealed her name as “Emily Love” before. (Other people in the comments had mentioned her name but I hadn’t seen where that came from.)
