The tattoos that people referred to last night are identical, on Toni’s and Brad’s right arms. They have a little “FD” logo in the center, obviously for “Fire Department”. The crossed items appear to be fire axes.
I like the way that there was apparent the full monty and all surrounding flesh here strongly implied, along with the passion of the newlyweds, and the way they disappeared in the last panel for obvious passion. Very well done, on a number of levels.
From those memories of my newlywed days, the ‘budget planning’ probably lasts longer than what happens next. Of course, a young newlywed can ‘recharge their batteries’ so to speak, in a relatively short time.
“And then they banged” is not usually something you see as the punchline of a comic strip in the daily newspapers. Cheeky move, Evanses. Only the pros in lots of papers can get away with THAT.
I hope this arc is done. I suspect it was just a “filler” while Evans took some time to decide in which direction the Piro/Tiffany/TV arc would go. Please get back to that! I hate loose ends!
This was probably the dumbest arc ever. LET’S NOT SEE BRADANDTONI AGAIN FOR 6 MONTHS. PLEEEEAAASSSEEEEE!! Stupid, stupid, stupid! What’s funny about this?
So glad I came here, because the old fogies at my state newspaper ran an old strip today. Because, you know, showing two adult married CARTOON characters about to get it on is too much for their sensitive readers…idiots
well, Sheriff must’ve used up his allotment of Digital Flesh Tone coloring for the year, so next week’s arc will go back to the more “buttoned up” characters.
I thin sex is wonderful, enjoyable, and should be engaged in with great frequency, but I also feel it should be PRIVATE and INTIMATE. While inside the story, it was private, for me, showing it as the story is IMO tawdry. I would hope and assume Brad & Toni have sex frequently, but I really do not enjoy seeing it nor this intimate a portrayal of the “pre” aspects of their foreplay. I hope Greg does not have further arcs like this. And, at least in my opinion, Arlo & Janis do sexual innuendo in a far more subtle and pleasant fashion.
How About a Sunday Morning Shocker: Three scenes showing the sun rising through the window and couples in bed (under the covers): Toni & Brad; Pru & Les; Tiff & Piro…
Well, that arc kept my attention. Thank you, TJ for your discreet exit. Thank you Greg for not having Shannon burst in and throw up on the rug. I’m still not too sure about Gunther and Tiffany, though. I’d prefer to see Rosa come back and redirect that passion for a jungle village to Gunther.
First they chase each other around the house naked…then block and tackle……! This is better than scenes of Frank and Nancy discussing their finances in bed.
Those who worry about kids seeing this strip in newspaper might consider that young people are more interested in their Facebook pages and most seek news (if they even do) embedded in social media. As a result, real journalism and hardcopy newspapers are struggling. We should be so lucky if youngsters are actually reading their hometown paper.
I’m glad Greg is allowing the the happily married couple do what keeps them happily married! Have fun, guys; we promise not to peek (the guy who draws you won’t let us)….
I can just see Greg Evans taking a pause while drawing Toni’s cleavage line in the second panel, wondering how long he could make it before the newspaper censors complain…
Finally this strip acknowledges the existence of sex — of course only within the bonds of marriage. And whoa — what foreplay! Household budget decisions first, whoopee after. Hello, 1950 just called and wants its morality back. Also can we finally dispense with the notion that children read these strips? Most children haven’t a clue what a newspaper is and so will never ever read this strips, even on the Web. So how about a little more of an adult-facing orientation….?

For a lot of paper newspapers, did this comic strip of Luann get set right beside something like Dennis the Menice, Family Circus, or Garfield?
