Anything to keep the viewers from switching channels. Sadly, even the local weather reporters do the same, by predicting a huge snow or ice storm and nothing happens.
It’s all slated to the left these days. They only tell you what they want you to hear. I gave up on them long ago and I don’t watch any of the national or local news. There are better sources with facts you won’t get from the biased media.
But they are so well organized. NBC uses the ‘speeding bullet’ intro that ends at its hq, which is pointed like a phallus at the sky, as if to say ‘screw the universe, we’re the source of all life.’ Then the ‘news reader’ dramatizes a 20 second headline with all the details, which are then repeated by ‘our reporter on the scene’ in 2 second screen shots with a banner blocking a fourth of the screen.
News in depth it ain’t, but it aligns with the phone and ipad huggers, who, their short attentions spans mesmerized by being ‘connected,’ walk into traffic, trees, and fountains, and blame it all on someone else.
But, that’s just my opinion, and I am good with it.
Journalists haven’t reported facts in a long time. It’s all opinion based with information that supports their agenda. I miss when the media had integrity. They did at one time… right?
There’s a HUGE difference between “journalism” (reporting news) and “yellow journalism” which is finding the most sensationalistic “spin” one can put on a story, even to the extent of changing the facts to “alternate facts”.
About 30 years ago a friend was interviewed at work by a reporter for the Arizona Republic. He was furious when the story was published – every quote attributed to him was entirely made up.

We know a fellow who admits he neither reads the paper nor watches TV. But, boy! Can he tell you what’s wrong with the world.

And never mind that Jefferson quote. Until the telegraph, news was anywhere from six days to six weeks old.

Blame the media for the Spanish American War. Yellow journalism at its worst.
