Is the flashback existing art, or a recreation?

Thirteen is when you have the hormones of a grownup, but not the brain.

“You wanted to be married at 13?!” which translates as “Maybe this is not the person from whom I should be getting love advice. I just want to have fun 13-year-old dates with Axel. Not marriage.”

@BRDSHTT: Not acccording to the startled expression on Fay’s face. I don’t think she realized how close to fantasy world she was edging, ‘till Luann gave voice to Fay’s hidden visions of the future…

Oh for heaven’s sake, it’s Fogarty Flashbacks all over again!Let’s get some new stories instead of reposting all the old ones. Television “clip shows” are reviled for a reason, Evans!

Wow, when’s the last time we had Luann “dream flashbacks”?

This reminds me of the Star Trek (the original series) episode (The Menagerie) where Captain Christopher Pike is on trial for events that occurred during the original pilot movie (The Cage) – the entire episode was just an excuse to re-use the footage from the pilot and turn it into a regular episode in its own right…

What’s wrong with that? I was dreaming of marriage at 13 also, and I was just a nerdy guy.

Luann at 13 your brain is not fully formed yet you might thought you were in love Aaron but you were not.

Well, hopefully, these flashbacks and Lu’s “Crazy Bonkers” tag will help convince Fay to “stand down…” at least for now. Hopefully that’s what Lu’s trying to do… Hopefully…

So funny, one of the reasons I was initially attracted to Luann was because how funny and poignant she was in her desperate she was in her hopeless, hapless, and fear struck love (crush) for Aaron Hill. So human, so well drawn. Now she is just recounting to Fay her experiences at the same age Fay is now, over the same thing. Using flashbacks is perfectly appropriate. This blog is a tiny example of the human tendency to say something negative about anything before finding what the real purpose of something might be. Wow, GE must have run out of storylines (as opposed to too many storylines) or is tired of drawing new panels (as new panels are being drawn to show the story in the minds of the characters). Can’t it just be Luann is talking to her 13 year old mentee as an experienced friend?

Even at 31 wanting to be married is bonkers.

Since this is no longer a gag-a-day strip (as seen in the flashback) this must be going somewhere in Luann’s life. It seems Aaron Hill just will not go away! He was brought back once, apparently, to “cure” Luann’s love-struck feelings for him. But nooooo! Perhaps the strip’s writer is indicating Luann’s yearning for a new (and better) Quill?

I just do not see how he can reappear in this strip as a potential love interest for Luann. But then, who knows?

I like the flashbacks. The change in drawing techniques and things that happened “before my time” are very interesting to someone who hasn’t been reading Luann since her first baby steps.

So Luann is claiming she didn’t dream herself being married at a marrying age?

@Airman and S-Dog: Looking at the graphics, I do agree. It is interesting to see how Greg’s artwork has progressed/evolved over the years. He used to subscribe to teen magazines (Tiger Beat, Teen Vogue), etc. to more understand the perspective of a teenage girl.

So yes – flashback stories, properly done, are fine by me!

All well and Good for Luann. But let’s not forget that:

1) Brad was also “bonkers” for Diane, to NO avail.

2) Gunther was also “bonkers” for Luann, to NO avail. (Although he did end up with a “lasting friendship” out of it for what that’s worth)

Fay? THIS is what happens when a person becomes Obsessed with ONE person and puts that person on a “pedestal.”

The GOOD News Is: There’s always someone BETTER “waiting in the wings.” Just ask Brad.

And say what you want to about Jack, but I think the guy just might have the RIGHT idea about meeting as many members of the opposite sex as possible until you find the RIGHT one.

Unfortunately, today’s effort is pretty much the same as yesterday for me….. I am still not fond of Aaron flashbacks, and I am thinking this story telling by Luann is too much like “advice from a mentor” about dating…. without Luann (or Fay) having first done the proper work to get Mom’s “ok”.

Yesterday, I gave the effort a “3”… but today I moved it up to a “4”…. because I DO like seeing Mr. Fogarty again!!!!! If Greg were to decide to bring back an “old” character who has not been in the college year’s panels…. my vote would be for Mr. Fogarty!!!

At 13, I found teen boys terrifying and intimidating with all the hormones they had.

the Spanish version has Luann saying something like “just dreaming” instead of “crazy bonkers”

Since Aaron Hill has not been in the comic for a while, I think we all forget just how obsessed Luann was with him.
