“Leslie” has taken the BEST for himself, leaving the DREGS and the dirty work to Gunther. What a Surprise. (SARCASM OFF)
And note that Al and Irma didn’t follow Gunther into the house to catch Les walking around in towel. And Al Gray didn’t have the Common Decency of presenting the keys lads at the same time, to be fair. Nope. Old Les gets first dibs.
Gunther, Son, You’re on your OWN here. SO You’d better learn how to fight dirty.
And You can start by discreetly turning on the stove if “Leslie” just happens to move his hand about six inches to right in panel #3. ;)
So some “Luann” fans thought Les was turning into an OK guy. Doesn’t look like that here. Confrontation appears likely to escalate. And then if Tiff comes around to visit Les. Tiff coming out of the shower in her little bathrobe… It would be sad if Gunther couldn’t handle it – and sad if he could.
Seriously, by now, the completion of two home improvement projects, Gunther ’s gulag guest house along with what appears to be Shannon ’s new permanent quarters can only indicate one thing:
A lot of time has passed since the Pajama Scam!
As in, to me at least, this entire thread is dead-fish-dead!
It may not be funny to some but the “odd couple” situation simply happens whenever two total opposites share a space. Gunther and Less couldn’t have been more opposite. That’s where we’ll see what happens between the two of them.
It appears that Les likes to take his “half” out of the middle.
.
“Oh, look – your uncle Al even filled the spice cabinet for when I cook for you, Les! I wonder what this spice is with the little skull and crossbones on the bottle…”
My first place was a shared house. Shared with 3 others. It was “fun” trying to stake out frig and food cupboard territory. Luckily, we all got along relatively well.
Yesterday someone commented that I chose orange to color a milk carton. Zoom into the carton today. I had used teal originally. It’s easy to correct Tuesday’s colors with Wednesday’s information. It’s Impossible to correct Friday’s colors with the next Monday’s revelation.
Gunther Motivation Book. Item # 1. Do not allow yourself to be controlled. Take whatever means necessary (education and/or money) to become the controller.
Assert yourself now Gunth and take a firm stand on sharing and dividing space equally, or be condemned to be bossed and pushed around forever by the bully side of Les.
These two guys, they are very lucky to have each other. Can you imagine if one of them was the size of say, Jock? Or if one of them were a bit athletic and a bit more aggressive?
I am optimistic by nature, took a psychological test once and it said I was unrealistically optimistic. What do those tests know? (lol). I think things will work out between the two, but the interplay between them should be interesting. Gunther will be more assertive, and Les will be more accommodating; at least I hope so. Luanniverse time will tell.
As an escape vehicle, this arc doesn’t work for me after seeing the cute little Fay, the perky Tara, and the “more to be explored” Tiffany. Here, we have a greaser wearing a towel and drinking from a milk carton.
I would love to see Gunther enroll into a MMA class for the next month or so, then finally give Les what he deserves for all those times of disrespect.
Not knowing what mr Grey said to Les about when he could move in, Les is actually being kind of nice. First roommates are always a little awkward, but he’s cool enough to label the fridge and offer the stove. I’ve had some roommates who cook and made the shared kitchen a mess. Les sounds easy to live with. Gunther sounds like an uptight defensive nightmare. Got nothing against Les for going for what he wants by preemptively setting the rules and seeing if Gunther will object. It’s a smart move.
I’m sure Gunther would have looked for other living situations if $ permitted. When Irma remarked that Al Gray was taking good care of them I’m sure she was referring to their financial situation. Gunther probably has a full tuition scholarship at Mooney and living at home is the only way to keep his education affordable. So until he graduates and gets job he’s basically dependent on what ever Al provides now that Irma is marrying him.
It appears that my comment about a Monday revelation was ripe for misinterpretation. What I was attempting to explain was a potential coloring snafu.
I usually have only one week (Monday thru Saturday) block of strips to color at one time. It’s a good practice to read the full week in black, white and gray before digging in.
Tuesday July 3 showed Les drinking from a carton of milk. I colored it teal. Wed. July 4 showed the same carton, but this time “OJ” was visible on the carton. So I changed to color to orange for July 4 and July 3. So within a Monday-Saturday run such a correction can be made before submitting the full week of colored strips.
However, if the next coming Monday shows that carton labeled “OJ” for the first time, I cannot go back to the previously submitted batch and make the teal to orange switch. I did not mean to infer a big revelation was in store for us on Monday.
That being said, Monday (and the rest of the week) shows us things we’ve never seen before. Pretty vague, but that’s all I can give you.

With the fridge, looks like Leslie didn’t give Gunther much of a half; more of like 25% thereof whereas Leslie gets the other 75%.
