This is why I don’t think terraforming is a way to get away from our pollution of the earth. Stephen Hawking had this dream that we’d terraform and colonise other planets, but humans being what we are, we’d certainly be well on our way to ruining them as well, long before they were anything close to as habitable as the Earth is now.
When I was in high school (back when the earth was still cooling) a bunch of us were hired to pick up trash in a wilderness area. Spent the entire summer packing out the junk left by the back packers.

It only takes one human to muck up a planet!

Wonderful two frame vista of the rugged, natural beauty. And a speech bubble in the first frame that comes from the second. Watterson nails it again.

They’ll soon get fed up of it, as soon as the food runs out…

Okay, but where are you going to put your wrapper, Calvin?

I prefer the greenery and waterfalls through which the 2 troll during summer holidays.

Ummm…Hobbes…if it wasn’t your wrapper, and Calvin is the only other entity there capable of depositing a wrapper…

Humans were put on earth to incorporate plastic into the environment. It’s our only “invention” that can not return to nature.

Mars looks eerily similar to landscapes after glacier have melted away.
