Remember all those old sitcoms where the male goes cheap in defiance of the female’s wishes and it ends in disaster? I suspect this is the story we are going to see this week.

Is the gas it guzzles free, Phil?

It’s a TRUCK. Don’t beef. Moving doesn’t have to be pretty, and never is anyway.

Free? Famous last words!

One of the great truths of life: It costs more to do things cheaply.

There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.

Wash it out with a hose and lay down a tarp, big deal. You’re only moving stuff with it, not moving into it! Free is good!

Trying to be cheap seldom works out well.

It is amazing how many friends I gained when I bought a truck!:o}

Well, it’s filthy, but that’s OK. We’ll just line the bed with your clothes, Phil.

With a U-Haul, it’s not the initial fee that gets you. It’s the mileage. Usually around 75 cents per mile.

Helping people relocate, got so frequent, and such a pain, that I finally had a bumper sticker put on my truck, that said:

Yes, This Is My Pickup Truck

NO, I Won’t Help You Move !

No worse than a U-haul…

Elly’s an old lady now. That ramshackle truck will travel at a speed where she will not complain.

Speaking from experience of having to rent a truck to move a household: if it doesn’t include a closed van, a trolley, an elevator ramp or and/or a pull out ramp it isn’t suitable, that’s for sure…but where’s the comedy in that? I just hope in doesn’t start to rain after the truck is loaded….

I don’t consider myself “cheap”….I am just thrifty!

Take the truck to the do-it-yourself car wash, and power spray the truck bed. Not good enough? Lay down some tarps. Always have a plan B…or C…or D.

So who in the Johnston family is CBJ? I’m assuming someone recognized their truck when they first saw Lynn Johnston’s picture of it.
