1) The question marks over Figaro and Lupin’s heads 2) Tabitha showing Elvis how Tillie went “through the roof”… ROFL images. But I HAVE to have a tshirt made with that RCO logo!
So Megan, Tre-C and new friend Maxie took a late-night stroll together and ended up- to no_one’s surprise, at “The Purrloined Litter” “This is my favorite place to unwind, Megan told Maxie. Order what you want, I have a tab here.” Rusty came up a few minutes later and Megan introduced him to Maxie. “Where’s the old tom tonight, Rus?” “You haven’t heard?” “Been busy. Nothing wrong is there?” Rusty sighed; “Not for him, no. Kip kinda semi-retired. Well, let’s say he’s on an extended leave of absence. He went to California…” Tre-C’s ears perked up; ”California? Did he say why?” “Yeah… he said he was going to L.A. and I got the impression he was getting back with an old flame. Actually never seen him that happy.” Tre-C had to ask; “Did he say who?” Rusty thought for a moment; “Yeah, but I’m damned if I can remember. Started with a Y, I think…” “YENTA?” “ “Yeah… yeah, that was it. Yenta. He was acting like she wasn’t just a passing fancy, too.” Tre-C looked at Megan, and Megan saw a slight tremble in her lower lip. She reached for a napkin and offered it to the tabby. “You know this ‘Yenta’?” Rusty asked. “Yeah, kinda…” And Tre-C got up and walked away from the group. Nobody was going to see her cry- even if it was tears of joy.
Wow, Elivs and Tabitha poofing together. Who’d have guessed. And I love Lupin and Sir Figaro’s worried look, though I think it’s more over Elvis and Tabby arguing than Puck’s danger or the ghosts. I think maybe their worried the arguing will turn Puck into a ghost.
On an aside I went to see a performance of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow tonight. Wasn’t too bad to watch. It was put oat one of the local living history museums to replace the Halloween events they’ve done for the last few years and it definitely had a packed audience. I do have to say that after being used to watching movie or cartoon versions it was different to see it in a play, especially one you had to walk to various locations to witness scenes preformed.
I had to go to Georgia’s Facebook page from the BCN website to learn that RCO is Radio Cat Oracle. Did someone mention that yesterday or did they ask if it stood for something else? I’m pretty sure I saw someone either explaining what it stood for or asking what people thought it stood for. So we’ve got CN for Cat News, GN for Gato News, BCN for Barn Cat News, and now RCO for Radio Cat Oracle. Next we’ve got to get some Kitty newspapers, maybe DF for the Daily Feline, KS for Kitty Sun, CS for Cat Sentinel, or NCT for the News Cat TRibune?
Look at the poofs! Haha! Miss Crabby Tabby and Mr. Angry Fussy Paws are just going to have to get along to save Pucky from certain doom! Happy Caturday everyone!
I couldn’t help but read Angus’s lines out loud using my impressions of Dick van Dyke (from Mary Poppins) and Jock (the Scottish Terrier from Disney’s Lady and the Tramp).
RCO-Radio Cat Oracle, Your Ghost Cat News Network. My wife found this on Georgia’s Face Book Page. There is also a really cute Logo, it looks very 1920’s. If you have access, I recommend you go see it.
I think Sir Figaro Newton and Lupin will have to take the lead. Tabitha and Elvis have issues.
Good morning and happy Caturday, orbsters and orbabies. It’s a good thing I had finished my second cup of coffee before I saw the last panel! Such poofage has not been seen since the day Yum Yum faced down a fox on our deck one morning this summer!
Getting the poofers to work together may be a tall order. Lupin and Sir will have to talk sense into their friends. Of course Puck doesn’t have time for a conversation that could take a month.
I’m strangely relieved that there’s a Radio Cat Oracle for Ghost Cat News. I currently have 2 cats – but every now and then a “third” and sometimes a “fouth” cat can be felt coming to bed after the those of us who are living have settled in for the night. I call the extras the Ghost Cats. :)
(Sound of teletype in the background)…Hello Spirit Cats and all the Ships at Sea. This is RCO-Radio Cat Oracle, Your Ghost Cat News Network…
News Flash Attic: Perplexed Pucky still locked in Steamer Trunk, wonders when rescue will arrive.
News Flash Basement: Tenacious Tabby and splenetic Siameese in war of the ages, trying to decide who will lead the rescue effort.
Will Tillie have to step in again?
Will Lupin and Sir Figaro Newton take the lead?
This is RCO, Ghost Cat Network, we will stay with this developing story all day and through naps if we have too….(Fade out teletype sound in background)
All is well on the inside. Lupin and Elvis are growing and looking more and more like cats every day. They are 100% integrated with cats and giant humans. In fact, their presence has started to cause positive changes in Clark’s personality.
Clark has been very aloof since he reached maturity. Lewis is an attention…ahem…hog. He always wants to be were we are, where other cats are, all the time, as the center of attention. Clark has been much more independent, even to the point of ignoring his brother much of the time.
With the arrival of Lupin and Elvis, Clark has begun to socialize more. With them, with Lewis and even with us. He has even begun to return to the morning milking. When they were young Lewis and Clark discovered the latte fountain. I have a Jura machine and make myself a HUGE 6 shot latte every morning. Don’t worry, that’s the only coffee I drink all day.
Anyway, they learned that WhirrrrrgrindgrindgrindHmmmmmmmmm is the alert sound. By the time I move the mug to the frother they would be poised on the counter top, watching. Then came the pumpapumpapumpapumpaHISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSahhhhhh. Which meant the milk jug was about to spill two small puddles on the counter.
As they grew (we’re big boys now) the lust for milk faded. But this last week has seen a revival for the boys. The kittens are totally unaware of the bovine treasure that can appear each day, if only they looked. Perhaps they will follow someday.
And yes, the nightly stampedes continue. Without regard for the anatomical weaknesses of the giant humans. You think its bad having your belly stomped in the middle of the night during a sound sleep? Try getting kicked in the balls by a kitten.
Hoo boy, here we go. You understand that I’m doomed, doomed I say. 3 of 4 have been named. You realize what that means. Doomed, I say.
Trixie (mom), Bandit (B/W w/black face mask), Ginger (self explanatory) Puck (very dark brown, yeah yeah, work with me here, its Puck) and the tortie who is unnamed pending new owner/slave. Actually Ginger will be going to the same home with the tortie. That makes us feel much better.
Mom is now bringing all 4 up on the deck each day, at least twice a day. She nurses on the puffy chair then retreats to the condo for a nap where they can’t reach her. Until today. Bwuhahahahahaha. Bandit has discover that if he leaps with all his might and grabs the edge he can find NIRVANA. No, not the band. A heated box with sheepskin pad, comfy yarn blankie and MOM GLORIOUS MOM, keeper of the holy nipples. Oh boy.
They mostly nap on the puffy chair but wake frequently and scamper about in utterly disgustingly displays of terminal cuteness. (all together now….Awwwww).
This all takes place on the outside of a wide panel of patio glass doors and window. Floor to ceiling. Elvis and Lupin are fascinated by the kittens and mom. We have to wonder if they recognize mom or if it is just the yearning to romp with even more potential investors in Stampede Partners, LLC,
As I close this, Trixie and Bandit are asleep in the condo, with the other 3 huddled together snoozing on the puffy chair. I expect it won’t be long at all before they all follow Bandit to the condo and mom.
Once the capture cage arrives we will start a morning feeding of canned food. They will all remain outside until the 4 kittens are at least partially weaned. Our best chance of a single combined capture lies in a shared meal under the cage. Barring that we want to get the 4 all at once followed by mom. If we are forced to separate mom from kittens we want them to be at least partially dependent on solid food. It may be several days between captures.
How many ghost cats are there? I was thinking we had 3, but now that they are all together, I see 4. Tillie and Carl were the WWI era newspaper reporter and photographer. Angus in the kilt is the field reporter for radio. The cat with the captain’s cap is anchor cat for radio, making him the 4th ghost cat. Do we know his name?
Andylit mentioned today that his kittens Elvis and lupin might recognize mom trixie even though they are from a previous litter. Actually trixie probably remembers them. I placed a female from one of my litters, Phantom, as a breeding queen in another cattery. I kept her mother, Misty, and rebred her a year later. Meanwhile Phantom returned to be bred at my house. Misty paid no attention to phantom whatever until misty delivered her next litter. Immediately after giving birth, Misty jumped out of the kittening box, scruffed the adult phantom by the neck, and attempted to drag phantom into the kittening box with the newborns.
Hopefully Elvis and Tabitha will unpuff by Monday and they can get down to some serious rescue effort. I am also hoping we get some more stories around the space heater tomorrow.
Yesterday was feeding day. The weather has turned colder here, finally, so we are having to swap out the air conditioner for a heater. Yes, I know snakes in the wild don’t have private climate-controlled rooms, but she’s never been an outdoor snake. And she’s old. I stunned her mouse yesterday and gave it to her, holding it by the tail as usual. Unfortunately, she missed her strike and instead of getting it by the head, she got it by the back leg. She did her usual coil around it, but couldn’t seem to figure out how to get it turned around so she could swallow it. At one point she had it by the base of the tail and they just don’t go down that way. She finally released it (yes, it had been dead since her strike) and it took almost 10 minutes for her to find its head, probably because she is mostly blind. It took even longer than usual for her to swallow it. Oh well. Such is the life of a geriatric snake.
At this point, I think all the cats can see Tillie. Puck can probably see Agatha as well (he was the first one to detect Tillie, because he is sensitive, in many of the meanings of that word) The other ghosts cats are probably invisible right now, unless Carl turned visible to flash everybody. How is he developing those photos I wonder…
Given that the detail of the dot on Carl’s forehead is faithfully done in both panels 1 and 4, I think we can safely say that Carl is the cat in the black and white picture and that the cat with similar markings in the color photo is a different cat.
I would say that the ghostly news anchor is the cat wearing the boart hat in the color photo, and not the one wearing a military uniform in the black and white picture (makes sense for the “anchor” cat to be a sailor).
Have been traveling and had the pleasure of meeting two adorable Maine Coons. Given their size and degree of fluffy fur, I wonder just how gigantic a poof they could generate if they were not too laid back to even think about it?
It’s obvious from today’s comments that there is already a bumper crop of kittens named Elvis, Puck, and Lupin and likely to be many more, and why not? Has anybody named an old souled female kitten Baba Mouse yet?

Why I’m still hearing James Doohan when reading Angus’s dialogue:
[Kirk has just spoken very abruptly to Mr. Scott]
Scotty: He’s in a wee bit of a snit, isn’t he?
Spock: He is a man of deep feelings.
Scotty: Aye, what else is new?
