Even more aggravating, I will sometimes need something in the basement, but when I get there, I will get sidetracked by something and forget what I was down there for. Usually, I will remember what it was when I get back upstairs. Then it is back down again, hoping that this time I will not forget. At least when it is just going into a room and forgetting what I went in there for, I don’t have to climb stairs as well.
Scientists say this happens when you go into a room because your brain “resets” to whatever it is you normally do in that room. F’instance, I keep my shopping list on the fridge; when I want to write, say, toilet paper on the list I forget what I was doing simply because my brain skips to “kitchen stuff” when I walk through the door, and toilet paper isn’t kitchen stuff.
Well it’s an instinct women have that when one woman gets up at a table they all get up unless she says false alarm I was just straightening my dress. She doesn’t get up but asks so she knows if she should get up.
Even when i’m sitting, if i’m sidetracked seeing/thinking something else than what i want to remember, then try to remember what i originally wanted to remember..

Don’t you hate it when someone breaks your train of non-thought?

Age does make one ponder the hereafter. You know, walk into a room and wonder what you’re here after?

Correction, Earl. You forgot the moment you stood up. Her question actually made you realize you already forgot.

Sometimes, when I need to remember something, I send myself a text message, reminding me. I always have my phone with me, so it helps.
