Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs wrote a song called "Pearl, Pearl, Pearl " which pretty much says it all . They were on the Beverly Hillbilles in the 1960s. You Tube them :-)
Well could be worse…she could have wanted names like “Apple”, “North”, “Bear”, “Blanket” (see article at https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/slideshows/17-most-ridiculous-celebrity-baby-names/page-3.html)
Back in grade school I knew a kid who had four brothers and sisters, and they all had names that started with the letter D- as in David, Debbie, Donald, Diana, and so on. Plus, the parents first names were also “D” names, and they referred to their family as “The Seven-D’s!”.
Or using the same first initial: Dave, Don, Dale. Or Marge, Millie, Martha. I knew a family with 2 sets of twins & they did both: Dan & Dave along with Terry & Jerry. Why don’t these parents get cute with their pets names instead of their kids??
Did anyone else laugh out loud with this one? That was hilarious. But I agree with Earl. I don’t even like when people begin all of their kids’ names using one letter of the alphabet.
There was a family in my neighborhood growing up. Mom was Cherry. Her kids were Merri, Perry, Kerry and (the last one) Verri. Dad’s name was Al. Go figure.
Mother was an elementary school teacher (1950s). A new child came into her class and introduced himself as “Gooey.” Mother, taken aback, asked how it was spelled and his response was, “G-u-y. My mother named me after someone in a book she was reading,” he explained.
I am guessing Earls reasons for leaving Pearl and marrying her sister are somewhat different. Even better, why does Pearl get along with her sister? After all she did steal Pearls BF
So am I. When I read the news and am assaulted with all the weird spellings of what used to be common names, I think to myself, “What were your parents thinking?”

So if Pearl’s grandnephew Nelson were her grandson, would his rhymed name have been Thurl?

More revealing – Earl ended it, and she must STILL have feelings way deep down inside…

She was lucky to get “Sylvia”, with the name Pickles. Opal could have wanted “Lotta”.

Sylvia, be glad I didn’t marry your dad. Because, if I had, your cousin would be here instead of you.
