Guys… did it not occur to you to put something in the “trap” to give it a little weight? Just sayin’… (they may be mice, but they do not appear to be dumb mice)

Smokey and the boys are unlikely to eat real cheese. Now their favorite treats in cheese flavor is another matter.

Uh, you guys are cats and those guys are mice. Cats? Mice? Catch them, it’s what you do. Puck was honing his hunting skills just the other day and ribbon was nowhere to be seen.

Looks like the Boys have removed some of those ornaments. Not only will it give them a place to hide but the People will enjoy replacing them in the morning. Tis the Season of Giving.

I LOVE, how Puck looks at his not so smart collegues! So, about Murka: she’s became not interested in the tree in the evening already! She knew, that she can climb on and nobody will scream at her. And, like I said, photos of our gray squirrel: 1. https://pp.userapi.com/c851024/v851024589/5f5f9/RamjB3poMF8.jpg 2. https://pp.userapi.com/c847124/v847124242/14a4b3/bcwh3g_n7cs.jpg 3. https://pp.userapi.com/c850136/v850136242/8cbda/UoA7RFoDybA.jpg 4. https://pp.userapi.com/c850136/v850136242/8cbe4/8St2GqM-FtQ.jpg 5. https://pp.userapi.com/c851436/v851436589/63a99/tXal7W80r2Y.jpg 6. https://pp.userapi.com/c844617/v844617242/154c9d/zqaSUnY38gc.jpg 7. https://pp.userapi.com/c851432/v851432589/60759/-nsb41ccxQo.jpg

Somehow I don’t think discretion is in Lupin’s vocabulary :)

I was out yesterday (Saturday) with a bunch of friends to see some of the Christmas displays around metro Vancouver. Knowing Georgia’s love of owls I had to take pictures of the ones at Burnaby Village:

    https://i.imgur.com/wCHN2Zg.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/wBa0hX0.jpg

and the alternate sleigh pullers :)

    https://i.imgur.com/bV06M7v.jpg

We also went to the light display at Stanley Park, the various firefighters units put up all the lights and take donations for the burn fund – pretty impressive and had fun on the miniature train even though the old bones objected to being squished. And the rain held off while we were out and about which was nice

To say that Sweet Lou was unhappy with the outcome of this “fight” would be understatement of the decade- even having won, technically. Bobby was looking aghast, trotting to where Red lay sprawled out and unconscious. Lou knew there was no way this was going to satisfy the crowd. “What the hell ya doin’, man? When did you teach him to do THAT?” Baywolf was just sitting halfway between Red and Lou, and was shaking his head. Tre-C was thinking; “…did not see THAT coming”, but had her eyes locked on Lou, as Megan instructed. And it’s a good thing she did, because Lou, not a kind and forgiving person to begin with, reached into his belt and drew out his .32 calibre pistol. No dumb dog, he thought, was going to make a fool out of him… or cost him money.

Tre-C now saw her cue and sprang full power from her perch ten feet above Lou in the building rafters. As Lou raised his arm to aim, she met it with fully extended claws and wide open mouth. Lou screamed in pain and attempted to shake the Tabby off his arm, an action that only made his wounds deeper- and caused him to miss his intended target, instead shooting Bobby in the leg. Twice. Maxie saw this, then launched himself squarely onto Lou’s back, to roughly the same effect as hitting him with a 30lb sack of flour. When he got back on his feet, he saw his “buddies” also drawing their weapons. Looking back into the center of the yard, he received an even bigger shock.

    Progress Report

Trixie and Bandit are doing well. Bandit is pretty much totally socialized. But hey, she’s a kitten. No big surprise there. Belly rubs, string toys and meaty goodness in the bowl go a long way when you only have 8 or 9 brain cells.

Trixie is slooowwwwllllly coming along. She spends more and more time not behind the toilet. More and more time settled in where she can look out the screen door.

She doesn’t always scurry behind the toilet when we come in and sometimes doesn’t even move at all.

She is slowly learning that giant humans mean grooming and petting. I brush her every time I go in, even if it means using the towel to drag her out from behind the toilet. No matter how hard she tries to feign outrage, you can tell that she likes being brushed.

We still haven’t gotten up the courage (stupidity?) to give her a bath, but I did try out a half measure. Put her under the towel and got a wash cloth dripping wet. Lift the back half and wring it out onto her. Brush it in and through until she is barely damp. Flip towel to do the front half, repeat.

This worked remarkably well. And it MIGHT have triggered some old instincts. Lisa saw her actually washing her face and doing a small amount of grooming in the days after her “bath”. Yesterday it looked like she has been cleaning her rear paws. I had to soak and scrub the litter clay out of them twice before the bath.

    (continued)

Little by little, we are being accepted. I can get her to the point of eyes almost completely shut while brushing. Of course, as soon as she starts to drift a slight noise will snap her alert with that tense posture ready to bolt. She looks at me in disgust (I prefer to think she is upset with herself) and then slowly relaxes with the brushing. 3-5 minutes and she has had enough and moves on. But she walks instead of bolting.

The brushing and bathing has resulted in an almost normal smooth cat coat. When she came in her fur was rough to the touch. You can no longer feel every bone and she is plumping up just a little. She no longer looks like a feral stray.

I realize I have been remiss on a specific point Lisa just adores. Trixie’s eyes are a dark copper color. Truly amazing and enchanting.

Tomorrow she goes in for her spay. We will also see if they can give her a real bath while she’s sedated before the surgery.

Home on Wednesday, and the plan is to release her and Bandit into the house over the weekend. Provided her incision is healing well.

I will post again with updates.

    Haul out the cheese trap

    Hide in the tree before

    The Robber Mice catch on

    Throw decorations

We’re very angry because Buzzy Mouse is gone

And we need a little vengeance

    Right this very minute

    Cause a little mayhem

If it’s war we’re gonna win it

Yes we need a little vengeance

    And we’re gonna show ’em

What could ever go wrong now?

A friend came by to have a birthday lunch with me. She brought me a hamburger from one of the local restaurants. She gave me a lovely little blanket covered with kitties as a birthday gift! The colors in it make me think it is supposed to be a baby blanket, but it works very well as a lap blanket, and I can also wear it as an additional layer over my shawl when I am cold this winter.
