My four take advantage of my night-owl tendencies to run amuck in the wee hours. I am now staring at the newest fur ball, Bijou Saint Honoré (patron saint of baking…aka patron saint of “Begging will do you no good, cats can’t eat chocolate cheesecake!”), who has decided my desk is suddenly NOT off-limits.
I had been to a friend’s place some months ago. He had a cat, a very gentlecat. He was so nice that he slept beside my leg all night and never disturbed me. When I woke up somewhere in the night for a loo, he woke up too, and was gently meowing, but never troubled any of us when we slept. Such a nice boy he was. And he wasn’t even neutered or trained. Earlier he never pounced upon any of our food but gently waited for us to feed him. I’ve never seen such a nice and well behaved cat ever. He was so well behaved, I almost thought he was a trained dog!
Good morning and Happy New Year to all orbsters and their orbabies. Special best wishes to Georgia and her family and clowder!
Yum Yum, for the first time since kittenhood, reacted badly to the early fireworks last night. She came flying out of the bedroom where Paul was sleeping and landed on the table; she was growling and every hair was on end. I went to comfort her and she screeched at me. The cat fit, such as it was, lasted until the fireworks were over. Then she settled on my lap, but she was still growling to herself and did not want to be petted.
Wishing Happy New Year to all of you in the BCN Orb.
I hope that all of your furbabies live long and happy lives and that you get all the toe beans and snuggles you wish for.
Thank you Georgia, for allowing us to have this lovely little peek into your life. You, The Man, The Toddler, The Baby, Elvis, Lupin and the mighty Puck have all become part of our extended, online family.
Love, health and success in 2019 from my menagerie to yours,Muffi
Happy New Year!!! I live in the mountains of Arizona and as of yesterday, I am snowed in. It’s a wonderful start to the new year as it’s been years since there was this much snow all in a few hours in Arizona. I’m hoping this is a sign the drought in the Southwest is over.
Happy New Year! More good news. California has passed a law that pet stores can only sell rescue animals. No more puppy/kitten mills! https://www.sacbee.com/news/state/california/article223784505.html#storylink=hpdigest
Good to be back! Nothing’s changed here, which is such a relief!!! Thanks to all who asked about me, and deepest apologies to any I might have upset.
Sorry to be out so long. Took a long-needed cyber break from all but essentials. Meds handling my weirdo-ness pretty well.
Bless you all, dearest Mega orbsters, Great Orb Leader, and all your beloved ones! Praying for you and wishing all success. There will be painful times, but may they not even cause a flicker to your beautiful fires of life! There’s always hope. There’s always* love!
Happy New Year to Georgia Dunn and family! Happy New Years to every cat owner, who has ever had the pleasure of your cat(s) racing across your sleeping body after 12am!
Typically, my family will watch movies and TV shows and whatnot to keep us awake. Last night one of the highlights was this old british TV show called Fawlty Towers, it’s really good! What do you do to stay awake?
Oh my cat, the Zoomies were bad last night/this morning. All 5 of them were running about. Singularly and in various groups. To quote the Mrs, “These little buggers are supposed to be ninjas, not a bloody stampede of elephants.” Oh, well, we can all sleep in and take naps today.
I don’t have this problem with the cats anymore since my bodyguard Jasper moved in. The cats are terrified he would join in the chase. Of course he would join in the chase what shelf respecting dog wouldn’t, broken leg or not. I however just don’t want 160lbs of fun slamming around in the dark dislodging tables, chairs and couches.
We did make it through the fireworks last night. grumble, grumble They decided to start very early so I didn’t have time to give Dually his Xanax before the booming started. Poor boy. After about an hour it finally started working and he calmed down some and his salivating slowed too. He couldn’t believe Jasper just layed there and slept through it without a care in the world. It did help calm him down seeing Jasper not care. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks. The cats of course down care at all about the fireworks they just wanted affection which they got plenty of from me. Happy New Year.
I guess I should be thankful that The Running Of The Cats takes place at about 9:00 p.m. at our place. At 2:00 a.m. we just get the occasional wrestling match on top of a sleepy human.
Good to start the year how you mean to go on.Puck is stretching but it looks like he is being a rapper and throwing shapes to Lupins sick rhymes.I am sure all of that is not how you say it, but I am out of touch with what the young ones say.
Part of my Christmas to Lisa was BCN swag. Pins, autographed post card, calendar, tote bag, stickers and 2 sweatshirts.
And, for her birthday she had asked for a, pendant, 1 generic choice by boyfriend, value, composition unspecified.
So I got a nice pendant and a nice silver chain. And a Tommy pin. I put the Tommy pin on the silver chain, put the “real” pendant behind the insert in the box and put the Tommy pendant to the front of the insert.
Looked like a top notch jewelry box, then she opens it to see Tommy. And when she takes it out to remove Tommy, the “real” pendant is revealed.
I hit a home run with both items. Yayyyyyyy Tommy.
I really recently that Western Samoa is the first place to ring in the new year, and American Samoa, about 100 miles east and on the other side of the line, is the very last. That was from the “You Gotta Draw the Line Somewhere” department.
Hi, to all the skykey fans. It is with a heavy heart I tell you of the passing of the love of my life. Gil passed in his sleep on December 10th after feeding and playing with our two feral cats, Jet and Dee-Dee. Then he fed Megan and Tre-C, helped me to the dining room as I was in pain, brought me some water and I told him to go back to bed. He passed between 7:30 and 1:30. I went to wake him, tried CPR. I was only 20 feet away and didn’t know. I never got to say good-bye. He had heart surgery 9 years ago and was doing fine. He LOVED writing his story for you. I got to hear each one before he posted it. He loved BCN and read it everyday, me too. I thank-you Georgia for the joy your work brought him! Also, thank-you to all of you for the encourgement and positive feedback you gave Gil. He was very excited and checked responses every morning at 6:30 before going back to bed. Gil is the kindest, most sensitive man I have ever met. He felt injustice very deeply, is a lover of Mother Earth and all her creatures. Thank-you for letting him touch your hearts through Megan and Tre-C. His daddy’s girls miss him terribly. Megan never left his side. I don’t know computers but I can read the comments on the site. Our best wishes to all of you. There is a final story, but it is in his computer and we are trying to retrieve it. Wish me luck. Good-bye for now and Happy New Year! Jeanne
