There’s a character in the mystery series I read that talks loud like that too.

My father was nearly deaf and used an early kind of hearing aid that only worked in one ear. So I grew up “loud” talking since that was how my family functioned. Only a rare few souls were engaged enough to ask me to lower my voice out in public, so I never really understood it could be annoying to other people. In class I got good marks “for speaking clearly.” It wasn’t until I got my first job in a an office right out of school, and a new coworker finally asked in exasperation why I always talked so loud? I was mortified of course, and worked hard to modify my tone and volume. I feel Charlotte.

Over sixty years later, Charlotte Braun could get a job as a sports talk “THE ONE WHO SCREAMS THE LOUDEST IS RIGHT!!!” panelist.

It is one thing to be loud when the situation calls for it, but to be loud for the sake of being loud is contemptible.

Charlotte Brown has a future career in Dale Carnegie.
