Luann is heated up and wants some attention. Jack has kinda faded out and Gunther doesn’t seem to know what “heated up” is. So some guy might just be in the right place at the right time. Always interesting if G & K bring in a new character.

Luann, if you aren’t interested in meeting someone via online dating apps, why bother creating a profile in the first place. This on line dating thing is going on right now over at Mary Worth. With one difference, it’s going a hell of a lot faster. What did I say about catnip? The thing about the internet is that it electronically replaces the usual personal communication that people have in so many ways, from business (now we send trillions of dollars electronically every DAY) to personal relationships, with the ascent of the dating app. That has been around for a long time, I remember them back when I was in college and law school way back in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Met a few girls then actually, nothing successful. Now it’s an app on mobile devices (calling them phones is almost inaccurate). So this is the new normal to summarize. Luann is subject to compliments conveyed by this electronic system, hence my comment about catnip. Affects guys just as bad, although I can’t think of a good metaphor for guys. In Luannverse is she going to met Doug?

This strip makes it crystal clear why Luann is single and should be staying that way for the foreseeable future. No matter how good a match, any (and every) guy would be doomed to failure with her current mindset/attitude.

I never thought Luann was so much like Gunther. She’s no Tara, but never thought she was so uptight. I guess with her it is: do as I say, not as I do.

I am glad that it DOES look like we may see Luann meet a new person. The dynamic of that would be very interesting story-wise! I am glad Dr. Sigmund “Pru” Freud is continuing to steer Luann in this direction.

My only minor worry would be if this would mean Luann no longer pals around with Jack. I like the character of Jack a lot (as I do Nil). I would hate to have them drift away into the abyss.

I am also hoping Gunther ends up meeting Betts (or some other new female who captures his attention on the dating app or in class). It would be great to see.

A friend’s kid used meetme app to hook up. He ended up getting chlamydia.

Why is Pru pressing this? If Luann doesn’t want to use a dating app, why would someone try to make her?

I have to say that, along with many of you here, I was really hoping for some wise insight from Pru regarding Luann’s conflicted feelings for Gunther. But, yesterday, we were suddenly thrust into the shallow end of the pool again and are still wading around there today. sigh
