A waste. You should’ve told the truth a long time ago and been getting things you will like. Everyone knows I like cats so I get cat things.

Too much of a good things is too much of a good thing.

She could always donate them to Good Will or Salvation Army.

Afore you know it, Opal, you’ll be gifted with more frog figurines to replace the broken or “misplaced” ones.

Good thing she likes Earl.

They give me owls. My mother got teddy bears (because her name was Teddy). My cousin Alice got camels because of an incident when she was trying to read to toddler me and I corrected her; said that what she was calling a “camel” in the book was actually a “dromedary”.

She should’ve dropped that bigger one.

One of these days, a visitor is going to ask Opal where she keeps the frog he gave her. What is she going to do then?

Oh dear! Same thing happened to me, only ZEBRAS! I had to tell everyone I’m out of room…no more ZEBRAS! Opal needs to be honest instead of breaking them. BOO HISS

My family likes to collect cow things. They keep them at my house.

This actually happened to my sister with turtles. Someone gave her one, she had it on her mantle, and suddenly everyone started giving her turtles.

THAT’S A LOT OF BULL… frog!

This is why you should never overpraise a gift you feel lukewarm about.

I took a box of 40+ ladybugs I’d ‘collected’ to work one day; put them on my desk with a ‘FREE’ sign on them and they were gone by the end of the day. Problem solved.

When I was in my teens I was so shy the called me “The Mouse”. I have a small collection of mice. Three is a collection, right?

Tell me about it, Opal! For some reason, people think I like penguins…

I had an aunt who collected a few elephant figurines. People kept gifting her with more. I’m not sure if there were any left in her estate or not but she was constantly trying to thin the herd.

If Opal were a little smarter about it she would have dropped it into a empty metal trash can and saved having to pick it up.

My grandma knew in her heart that it’s better to give than receive. So, to make it better for her grandkids, she let it be known that she loved turtles. (She did like ’em: Had a breeding pair in her back yard, and a nice silver turtle brooch with two or three baby turtles on a chain when it all started). Over the course of a longish life, she probably got 100 turtles from grandkids. And she displayed them all and knew which kid gave which one. Great lady!
