Watch it Elvis. The camera is still live and you are about to incriminate yourself. It’s a good thing the Woman’s TV seems not to pick up the BCN channel!
Aha – the culprit has returned to the scene of the crime … and probably never left it! Elvis, making a hole in the screen so that you have something to report is not a hallmark of ethical journalism! And peeling off the repair will get you in hot water with the Woman for certain!
Good morning beloved Mega Orbsters!!! As I write, Dusty is trying to catch a fly caught between the sliding screen & glass doors. It’s a hoot! I heard “WHAM!” & turned to see him hurling himself at the offending bug. Heartily recommend this little activity for any kitty seeking diversion. ☺♥☺
Sis, I see you’ve logged in! (((((((♥♥♥♥♥♥♥))))))) to you & sweet little TJ!!!
Big, warm huggythingys for EVERYBODY!!! Hubby & I will look for astilbe plants today & he’s taking me out for lunch. Yay! Mega boops that YOUR day will be rich with joy & pleasant excitement!
Hi everyone, long time no post. Just been busy and not near a computer. Well, as I’m sure you have all heard by now, I have adopted little TJ. I call him little because he is half the size of his cousin Dusty. But he is full of fun and just so darn cute! Within hours of bringing him home he found Allie’s stash of toys and latched onto Fuzzy Mouse. It doesn’t make any noise, but TJ LOVES to bat it around. He loves to play and just laps up attention. His previous owner was lonely and wanted a companion, but just didn’t know how to give a kitty attention. TJ was well taken care of physically, but not attention wise. So we are making up for lost time now. Sis met him for the first time Thursday and I think she was smitten within seconds! But she said Dusty was NOT happy with her when she got home. He’s not used to sharing!! Will update as I can.
I lived in a 1-BR ground-floor apartment and thus had a small porch rather than a balcony. I screened it in and put a cat door in the sliding door (put in a board, door in board, “lock” the slider with a piece of wood or PVC pipe in the track). Gummitch the super-kitten, who had never been outdoors, loved to watch the ferals, raccoons, and hedgehogs in the brush. One day he finally broke through (chasing a bird) and was so excited! He raced around the grass, halfway up a tree then jumped down, meeting the astonished cats and critters. When I made my way around from the front door, he came running up to me: I’m outside! I’m outside! [scoop]
I dropped him inside, and he was out through the hole again before I could block the door. This time, he wasn’t stupid enough to come right up to me.
I have a “Kitty Korral”, but it isn’t attached and I have to carry my kitties to it. (Trying to build a bigger and better one this summer, but I tried LAST summer too. >sigh< ) Sometimes, they have other ideas and get away or out the door. When I used to TRY and get them, they would sometimes run off and be gone for hours and scare me spitless! I changed it up. Now, I’ve got freeze dried treats (or just kibble they like) and they know they get them IN the Korral, and IN the house. They might wander a LITTLE from one to the other, but they never run off. I can hang out for a few minutes, run bellies, and enjoy them. Then, they are in the Korral all by themselves (or at the house door) saying “MA’AM! MA’AM! HURRY UP!!” It’s maybe a little counterintuitive, but by NOT running after them and scooping them, I’ve not had one run off missing since. It’s fun, too! Neighbors comment about my “loyal cats”, and “better trained” than dogs. Lol! They don’t understand that the CATS have ME trained, do they?
The “Smooch” sang the Hungry Cat Blues – sometimes he would do a duet with the Iron Paw (as in She Ruled the House with an Iron Paw) when the food bowls were empty. Sometimes all three would be the Hungry Cat Chorus. :) I often heard the cats practicing by singing to the birds, their toys, a bug, or sometimes singing in a corner of a room (to a ghost perhaps?). :) I never really understood a word they sang… but now I have some clue. Thanks Georgia!
I wouldn’t know repair. My daughter put a pet safe screen on the door. Even if Woodgie could reach it, it wouldn’t tear. She’s given up tearing at the back window’s screen. Nothing irritates her that much anymore.
As spring comes and babies appear everywhere, here’s a beautiful little song sung by the immortal Karen Carpenter, Bless the Beasts and the Children.
So much sadness among my beloved friends in the Mega Orb. I know the song may make some cry, but may they be tears of hope and renewal. I’m also hoping OUR illustrious Kitty Kat can give us something to go with the tune, like an extra verse that’s an anthem to Georgia and all the joy she showers upon us through her heart and hands. ♥♥♥
Anyone have suggestions on how to help a lost cat find her way home? My sister’s sweet, gentle indoor kitty, Keiko, got out sometime last night. There are cars and maybe coyotes in the area, and we’re worried sick.
Sad news on the kitten front. We lost Sawyer this morning. It looks like he got trapped between a mass of siblings and the box wall and suffocated while my sister was showering. Bagheera gave them a scare , too, seeming to stop breathing at one point. At the moment, all four surviving babies are lying on my chest for bonding time. The dogs aren’t happy with this situation, as it means their supper is late.
I managed to get WiFi in the carrier for all of about 5 seconds this morning. Then he turned around and was out before I could get my hand out of the way to close the door. Sigh. We’ll try again next week. In the meantime, I left the carrier on the porch with the door open and a towel lining it. Maybe he’ll decide it isn’t evil incarnate. He’s even getting along with Lily, or at least with very little hissing on her part. He is too laid back to hiss.
Tonight Reboot escaped again and though he hissed at WiFi in passing, WiFi just ignored him. For about 15 minutes WiFi was on the ramp porch mostly dozing while Reboot was under the ramp curled up on his side not 3 feet away. I suspect that if we get to keep WiFi he will become a house kitty if he gets a clean bill of health. In the meantime, we are taking it nice and slow and letting him set the pace. My daughter is his favorite because she is the one who fills the food, water, and liquid happiness bowls. When she opens the door, he comes running.

I do wonder what “spider treats” are. Maybe they give cats radioactive spider powers. Spider-Cat, Spider-Cat, does whatever a Spider-Cat does…
