An amethyst bowling ball. Is it a trophy? And a cuckoo clock! Looks as if her kittens have traveled the world. England, Egypt, Canada and all over the USA. She even has a post card from Georgia Dunn!
Canada, Great Britain, Brazil, Russia, Giza, New York, London, San Francisco, New York again, a desert, an orange (California?), the night sky, a partly cloudy sky over a grassy field, some pink flowers that I’m assuming are sakura (Japanese cherry blossoms), and the name of the illustrious Ms. Dunn.
Never got into “Brighton Rock”, but “OMIH” is good as a novel, and any film with Guinness in it gets lifted from the ordinary. Greene wrote the script for “The Third Man” (cracking good film) and then redid it as a novel.
I once saw Guinness in the flesh. He was a nondescript little man, totally unnoticeable. A blank slate, on which his brilliant acting skills drew the extraordinary range of characters he could portray. Alcoholic artist Gully Jimson (Horses Mouth) idealistic young inventor (Man in the White Suit) meek bank clerk turned bank robber (Lavender Hill Mob) cheerful bigamist ferry captain (Captain’s Paradise) rough, tough, dragged-up-from-the-Gorbals-and-promoted-from-the-ranks Army Officer (Tunes of Glory) creepy, channelling-Alistair-Sim, Professor (The Ladykillers) and many more.
(That’s thereal Ladykillers, not the ghastly American remake. If there were any Divine Justice, Hollywood would have been blasted from the face of the Earth for that.)
Wow, you learn something new. Baba Mouse has all those bowling trophies, and all probably won with that “crystal ball” there. You think you know a cat…
Yes! My mom has this big, long hanging card holder thing on her bedroom wall where she has all of the postcards I send her every time hubby and I go on holiday. She says it’s like a map of my life so she can know where I’ve been and mentally be there with me. Xx
Nushi update: Nushi started off strong yesterday (Wed), but seemed a bit out of sorts later in the day. She ate well in the am, but then spent the rest of the day with just few nibbles here and there, though she kept wanting something. Her eyes looked a bit off and a bit more of the nictating membrane was showing than is usual for her. she keeps scratching at her head/ears in a really violent spasm like way. I’ve talked to 2 vets who didn’t seem to know what would cause that. Today, she literally sat there and put the top of her head on the floor to rub it. I’m worried, and I want to eliminate anything obviously wrong with her ears or other that we may have missed so I’m taking her in to the vet tomorrow at 4pm PDT. I keep thinking that if the FIP virus was attacking her poor brain that maybe this is a side effect of her brain healing/fighting off the virus. With FIP neuro there can be lesions on the brain and her head tilt was pretty severe. I know stroke victims can have some odd symptoms/spasms as their brains heal…Anyone know anything about this? Ideas?
It was really hot here today and I’m hoping that might be part of her malaise. For Seattle 93 degrees is punishing for those of us who don’t have air-conditioning, which is most of us. My old house doesn’t have much insulation, so I have fans set up and I have a portable air-conditioner for the front room/living room because it doesn’t have good ventilation to cool off otherwise. We’re just not set up for it here, though more retailers, restaurants, etc. are getting air conditioning every year as our weather has been trending hotter in the summer.
I kept a close watch on Nushi and kept her in the coolest room and wet down the area outside in her catio where she likes to hang out. If she is dehydrated, it’s just a little as she passed the skin test.
I don’t want to worry everyone, and I admit to being a bit of a worrier. Hopefully it’s nothing more than part of the process of getting better.
We put in new carpet today. To get each landing right, everyone has to leave their doors open. Which was the perfect opportunity for a beautiful Burmese to wander in and out of the apartments.
Missy was hiding from the noise (the carpet glue set off the new fire alarm), so she didn’t tell the interloper what she thought. But Missy’s mum saw him and brought him in too our apartment anyway.
His name was Tigger and he demanded and demanded affection. But was he from another apartment or elsewhere?
His name tag also showed a phone number, so a message was left.
He’s so affectionate! Constant demands for affection, meant no good photos could be taken.
Missy was already hiding in the spare room (with door shut) so she didn’t know … yet.
But there were claws poking under the bathroom door. Investigations of the interloper led to an unimpressed Missy. She doesn’t like uninvited (or indeed invited) guests.
Fortunately the message had worked. Tigger was been picked up. His people were away and a friend in College St was minding him and his sister. He went missing yesterday, and the poor minder was beside herself, having not slept all night!
Does anyone else see a parallel to all the postcards from kittens all over the world keeping in touch with Mama Baba and all of us posting comments to keep in touch and offer love and encouragement from all over the world?
Attention Mega Orb: SHAUNNMUNN NEEDS YOUR PURRS, PRAYERS, ORB BUMPS AND BOOPS! ♥ I only just found out a little while ago that she is suffering a severe tooth infection. She writes: “I bit too hard on some food & a tooth split & became infected. Tried to keep it down with peroxide, but it became a full-blown impaction. On Keflex now, the infection is starting to abate.” I know it’s rather late so I’ll post this again in the morning so everyone knows. This morning Kiki came out of the back room and checked out my bedroom. She dashed back so fast i think that she scared herself. :D
I have the day off, with no set plans, so she will have ample opportunity today to come out, if she wishes.

And Missy rules the roost again.

New York, San Fransisco, that’s where the cats go!
To Atlanta, and Philly, we can all be silly!
And Moscow, Seattle, we can row or paddle!
…….
In a nearby barn,
Close to the big pink house,
Lives a cat named Baba Mouse,
The feline matriarch.
Her kitties travel the world
Unafraid of the old vacuum
The world has a lot of room
For all the traveling cats!
…….
Quebec, and Bangor, travel’s what they’re there for
To Paris and London, where the post cards come from
And Shanghai, and Melbourne, whether it’s cool or warm,
Baba Mouse will know.
By boat or bookstore we will go,
Travel fast or go real slow,
The post cards will all show!
