Credit where due, at least Danae is aware of what she doesn’t know. If you’ve ever heard of Dunning-Kruger, that’s the study which found that what people actually know is inversely proportional to what they do know. In other words, certainty is often with those who are the most ignorant, where doubt is with those who realize how deep the subject actually goes.
Stephen King said it best. He said story ideas are easy to derive. Sitting down 8 to 10 hours a day, week after week and writing, that was the hard part.
There once was a time when I wanted to write a book. So I followed that sage advice of writing what you know. And it would have been published if that darned publisher hadn’t insisted that my manuscript should have words. ;-)

I guess the book is going to be about Lucy, Jeffrey and yourself for it seems that is all you know.

@mwaurelius I am not going to waste my time attempting to address the wrong-headedness of your comment.

If Danae were ever to put down and release in print what SHE knows, it would probably get her incarcerated….Or at minimum, a subpoena.

Actually, I would think acknowledging that one doesn’t know enough to write anything would be a harder task.

Hmmm… this toon actually explains the Democratic Party’s current lack of a coherent message…

Holden Awn: as opposed to the Republican Party’s lack of any message at all?

Start by reading Grapes of Wrath and Atlas Shrugged and MASH or Catch 22 and everything will fall into place.

In order to “Write What You Know”, you must first get to Know something.
Or Someone.
No one thought to tell Danae that Writing as actually WORK.

I like science fiction: Kate’s spec is good for that. There are some authors, though, for whom it’s not really an issue.

Danae has no problemo. She knows everything!
