Back when I was driving a delivery truck I coined the phrase, “How green does it have to get?” but that was reserved for those who were having a chat with their passengers and ignoring the light. I always tried to be patient but there were times we never got through on the green because the guy or girl up ahead wasn’t paying any attention.

Just because some folks think that the highway is a Drag-Strip ! Tis a stop light not a Drag Strip Christmas Tree ;-)

My daughter has a (in my opinion) perfect response to that guy. She’ll start up and go about 1 mph LESS than the speed limit in heavy traffic.

And then there’s the third person in line who just sits and watches traffic drive away.

I got out of my truck once and went to ask the person that honked at me what they wanted. It made them very mad. It was quite enjoyable.

Maybe in California. I rarely hear a horn at a stop light in Iowa or Nebraska. Of course we don’t have as many stop lights! Lol.

Please! Don’t forget those of us with enough smarts to make sure the intersection is clear before proceeding watching for that crazy driver racing through a red light! We Pluggers are notorious for being overly cautious at times like these!

It is also called a “honk-a-sec” world.

I’ve had people trying to beat the yellow cross the intersection 2-3 seconds into my green. I still wait for the oncoming to stop. Moving vehicles have the wrong of way.

I usually pause a second after the green (as I have witnessed an accident caused by someone trying to slip through an intersection before the signal turned red). My response to honking is a friendly wave (seriously… no fingers, whole hand). Road rage Rx… don’t let other’s problems become yours!

I grew up with the milisecond before a honk called a New York second. After driving in NYC, I understood where that came from. I am amazed sometimes at how PATIENT most of the drivers are around where I live. If we hear a honk just a split second after a light changes, we say, “Must be from New York.” No offence to NYC – love to visit there.

If I am honked at by someone behind me in an unjustified manner… it causes me to respond ever so very slowly and carefully at that point "to make sure everything is "safe"" before I proceed. And then, just for added “safety” I crawl very slowly through the intersection and practice “economical” measures for fuel efficiency by accelerating by never having my tachometer go above 1500rpm. It may take a while, but it is worth it for the greater “fuel efficiency” it delivers. :)

This is also the amount of time between the light turning green and my wife telling me to go.

I don’t know why, but every time there’s a honking horn, my foot hits the brake.

So annoying and rude when people do that. Makes feel road rage just thinking about it.
