What a question! Simple yet not a lot of folks ask themselves this question.

I think the point is “Let sleeping tigers lie” as Hobbes was asleep in the first panel…

Today’s strip may be unique in that it has four panels but uses the punchline in the second panel. Some other four-panel strips have used the punchline in the third panel and the reaction in the fourth panel but this one has used the last two panels to show the reaction to the punchline.

And here I was thinking that the purpose was “pass butter”.

Hobbes’ statement is flawed, at least in terms of eating Calvin.Hobbes has stated that “ little boys don’t smell good”. When has a cat EVER eaten something that didn’t smell good ? As for Calvin’s parents…they might need to sleep with one eye open.

I don’t buy it. Humans are hardly the easiest prey for tigers and, in fact, do more than any other species to endanger tigers.
