Thinking on the bright side, because the alternative is that Goldie’s evil-ex People were camping out in some furniture-free open-plan cat-unfriendly house layout – maybe the confusion is just that they called it a “sofa”? There are a lot of synonyms for the same bit of furniture…I’ve got “davenport” and “loveseat”, anyone else?

Uh, Goldie, now would be a good time for you to apologize to Lupin for stealing his tape recorder & erasing all of his important stuff. then he wouldn’t have a valid reason to be so angry.

You tell him, Goldie! His missing tape recorder is a 1st cat problem. It sounds as if you were an outdoor cat even when your people lived across the street. Then they took off and left you behind to fend for yourself You’ve had to scrounge for food and shelter for the past 8 months while Lupin has been safe and warm and dry and well fed.

Lupin was too young to remember being left alone where he would have died in that closet if somebody hadn’t found him and rescued him. You have more in common than either of you know.

But she doesn’t know what a refrigerator is either

Goldie may have had limited, deprived indoor conditions (when she had them), but she’s sure got the right priorities: “kitchen full of food”.

Sounds like Goldie’s people didn’t care for her properly even when they were here. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Is this the first time we’ve seen Goldie actually next to one of the boys? I know IRL she’s a big ginger girl, but in the second panel, WOW! She sure makes Lupin look small!

I have read the Go Comics for BCN from the beginning, but untill today’s comments I had never heard of lupine being found as a kitten in a closet. I know The Woman had Elvis first. I would like to know the origins of all three of the boys

Somehow, I get the feeling that Goldie’s past indoor experience was not the same as what the boys are used to.

Somehow the whole dignity of the dispute gets watered down when the cats doing the arguing look like kitty candy canes.

Does Goldie truly not know inside terms or is she just messing with Lupin?

Knowing that poor Goldie doesn’t know what a couch is, make me wish I could find the humans who dumped her and box them in their ears!

I wasn’t sure how Elvis would react to Goldie, but now we know that Elvis really does prefer the ladies no matter what the species or age. I thought he might have fallen for Bea because she was so small and fragile but that definitely does not describe Goldie! He loves The Woman, The Girl, & Bea but not as much The Boy & definitely not The Man. Poor Goldie was a refrigerator cat. I’ve had those. They can definitely be brought “down to earth” with a little patient TLC. It’s trivckier when you’re integrating them into an established cat household tho.

Skywalker enjoyed her Christmas. (This is her first inside Christmas.) She still isn’t sure about a tree growing in the living room, but she loves her giant, purple mousie from Santa Paws. (It was actually bought for Damien, but Skywalker has claimed it.) This is the first toy I’ve actually seen her interact with. Usually she just sniffs them and walks off to watch the others play.

Not as bad a scenario as I had imagined: I thought the fur would be a flyin’ and the cats would be a fightin’, but not so! I predict Lupin and Goldie will reach a mutual understanding in next few days. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Goldie is being true-innocent here! I thought first that she might be messing with Lupin’s mind … But I don’t think so now.

No … Lupin isn’t evil, but just mistaken here. … And I think, Goldie has picked up lots of street-smarts, but lost a home-like setting, as well. If only that tape recorder would pop up – maybe as an after-Christmas present!! :)

I’m concerned about my cat.. I gave her a flea treatment, one of those behind the neck ones, that I got from the vet. I left for work and when I got home to check her, and even though I had combed it downwards straight, it had dripped down to her right side, just barely enough for her to lick a small corner. I immediately grabbed her comb and recombed it back to center, but do I need to be worried? Should I be looking out for symptoms, do I need to take her in? She’s not exhibiting any symptoms so far.

I’m switching my avatar for the next couple of days to Kiki. I’ll go back to bunnies next year.

does anyone remember when the pajama pins 1st became available? I’m trying to get my stuff in chronological order.

I’ve seen many foster kittens do the arms-up pose like Lupin in panel 3. Usually they started with the Halloween humped look, then they’d try the arms-up “I’m a Big Brave Guardian” stance. Always made me laugh. Kittens!

Was she only allowed in the kitchen in her old scumbags’ home?

We didn’t buy any toys for Akiro or Bella, but they both got little bits of steak and I baked whole-wheat applesauce & cinnamon dog biscuits for Bella; she is a real FAN!

With most treats, she will take it hesitantly, then hold it in her mouth while she decides if she likes it or not … some she will eat, but certain famous bone-shaped treats are politely spit out after a moment; when I offered her one of these home-made bones tonight, she snatched it out of my hand and started crunching it down almost right away … she even hunted for all the crumbs once she was done! :) That recipe is a keeper!

I could never live in a home like this (it’s so narrow that just watching the video makes me feel claustrophobic and I can’t do stairs), but I love, love, love their cat run!

Someone pointed out that Goldie’s people could have really been a bunch of college students (but I can’t find the post and I need to type while I have the thought). Clio was the pet of a group of college guys who were renting an apartment, and eventually most of them graduated and the reminder had to move back home. One of the young men took Clio to the weekly Pet Adoption at the nearby pet store, and my daughter had her Dalmador (Dalmatian and black Lab) puppies there hoping to find them homes (she did). She called me, and I went and took possession of a small (5 lbs.), long haired, black polydactyl with green eyes. I had her for almost 17 years.

She liked men…

It’s hard to believe that Elvis can believe that Goldie is both alive and harmless.

Awww, that’s sad, she must’ve been out in the wild since her owners left, and they probably left since she was a kitten…
