I’ve noticed that when one day seems pretty much like the others, you can’t remember what you did when. Ummm…did I take my pills today or was that yesterday??
I get into that same rut a couple days a week – my days off from work. But I keep pretty busy on days I do work, so maybe I’m entitled to getting into a rut on my days off.
The end of the daily grind does not mean the end of work. There has got to be some volunteer activity close by for him to do. Go with Opal to buy some yarn, that will do it.
Not in Earl’s case, but many retirees — especially those forced to early retirement — believe their productive days are over. Not so! Find somewhere to volunteer…become a mentor (check with your local Council on Aging or library)…take a class that peaks your interest… pick up a hobby (photography, painting, dancing, writing, etc.). While you have a life, live and enjoy it!

I predict Earl’s rut will end when Opal announces dinner is ready.

The only difference between a rut and the grave is the dimension.

Ruts are getting a bad rap! At least they don’t ache, hurt, or disfigure.

She should be happy. Nothing breaks up a marriage faster than being motivated.
