What are you doing just laying on top of the ground under the snow? You should be coiled up in a hole somewhere with a bunch of other snakes until winter passes.
Once upon a time, I lived in New England. I would say Boston, but we were on the “wrong side” of Route 128. I lived in an apartment that was a long, slender building.
One day, we got 27 inches of snow and the wind was blowing lengthwise along the building. This produced two 8-foot drifts on the front of the building (starting about 10 feet from the building) and another in back (starting about 6 inches from the building).
My upstairs neighbor called us to see if we were OK since the snow was apparently level with his window. He woke me up as I had no intention of getting up to go to work that day.
The kids loved the snow, but they were light enough to get over the drift while we adults could not. I had to talk one of my sons into coming back.
We got to know our neighbors. Our apartment became the headquarters for the snow clearing operation. Hot coffee and food. and everyone congregated there.
We had a house guest, a bachelor, who knew from the parties we’d throw in our “backyard” in the summer that there were many children living there. So as soon as it started snowing, he came by with three gallons of milk. We stored them in the hallway. It was cold enough there.
The men got together and shoveled out a 150 path from the apartment to the street. Along the way, we dug out where we remembered the fire hydrant was.
Very funny today. But I also remember one, where Snake pushed a snowball down the hill at Fat Broad (Yeah, I know. Not politically correct, but decades of memories are hard to throw away). The ball became huge and just before it hit FB, he rushed ahead and laughed. In the last panel, he was a broken mess, but his comment was something like worth every hit. So FB hasn’t always had her own way.
During a recent snowy New Mexico winter, a neighbor’s dog pulled a little rattler out of a hole. The neighbor dispatched the rattler after firing a box (approximately) of .45 rounds at it.
Don’t worry, this wouldn’t happen and no creatures were hurt in the making of this strip. Snakes are cold blooded reptiles and wouldn’t survive the cold, so they couldn’t possibly just lie under the snow.. :)
They are lucky that a Zeus Weather control Satellite is in synchronous orbit over them. Allows them to get a break from the relentless head an wetness. (Though they really don’t need it at all.)

We haven’t seen the snake get clubbed in a long time, it’s nice to get away from political innuendos and back to basics.

Those ants should move to Scandinavia. The smallest anthill I’ve seen in Swedish forests was several feet tall.
