Now let me see. Legionnaires’ disease, Ebola outbreaks, measles, and now the Coronavirus. Note to self; if I ever think of taking a cruise or hear anyone else discussing taking a cruise, remember the request of the Cowardly Lion – “Somebody talk me out of it.”
Seriously, WHY would anyone EVER want to go on a cruise? A 4 day trip from N.Y.C. to Southampton, maybe, but 10-15 days just wandering around from one tourist trap to another? No way!
I worked for several years the cruise & travel industries before my final retirement and spent a lot of time aboard ships of various cruise lines observing and writing assessments of the cruise, crew, food, accommodations, etc. for corporate headquarters.
The sanitary conditions aboard a major cruise line vessel are far superior to most people’s homes. Every possible precaution is taken to maintain a high standard of cleanliness … but … just like an office building, a school, or worse, an airplane, a ship can only do so much to ensure that the passengers don’t bring and spread disease, once they’ve boarded. It’s a confined area and airborne pathogens find their way through the air-conditioning and air-recycling systems, as well as direct contact. Just like a bunch of kids in a cramped classroom, when you have that many people in a confined space and someone is contagious…
I don’t blame the cruise line, nor most the passengers – although, if those who thought that they were coming down with something, should never have traveled. No, I blame the government authorities for the ham-handed way the passengers were quarantined on the ship without medical inspection instead of in a hospital facility.
BTW: Carnival Cruise Corp. owns and operates Carnival Lines, Holland America, P&O Princess Cruise Lines, Costa Cruise Lines, and Cunard Cruise Lines.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. operates Royal Caribbean Cruises and Celebrity Cruise lines, while Norwegian Cruise Lines in an independent line based in the United States.

Is that the Royal Caribbean Masque of the Red Death? They ply the waters between Matanzas & Montserrat, if I’m not mistaken.

With Captain Eddie talking, her “heah we go” one could assume either “here we go” or “hear we go.”

The virus isn’t that bad or all of the ship people would have died instead of just 2.
