It’s one of life’s ironies, isn’t it? When you’ve retired and can lie in bed as long as you like, you want to get up earlier!

I hate Daylight Savings Time! I get up at 4:30am and leave the house by 6:30am… It has JUST begun to be light outside by 6:30 and now I will be relegated back to total darkness. (I go to bed between 8-9pm, so on the other end, it will still be light outside. Ugh).

During the oil shortage of the 70’s, Nixon tried DST all year, unfortunately kids going to school in the morning were getting hit by cars due to it being too dark. Hell in the upper mid-west the sun is setting around 6PM. Hopefully it goes to standard time period. Hey, maybe it would bring back drive in theaters. (kidding).

the backlash is more intense in the spring when the change takes away an hour.

not so much backlash in the fall when we get an extra hour

I’m old enough to remember the way it was without DST. Nobody cared – it was normal. We all got along just fine without it.

It’s time to do away with DST – shifting time zones 9 months out of the year has no useful purpose.

I don’t really care for this Daylight Saving Time. I’ve heard many reasons why we have and none of it really makes any sense. I think we either leave the time alone, or be forever a hour ahead.

Of course DST doesn’t add an extra hour of daylight anyway. It just rearranges them!

It does not matter which way you go on DST. There are fans and detractors of it. It is like the chicken and the egg question. There will never be a acceptable solution to everyone.

I know this wouldn’t really work, but…THROW away your watches! Refuse to live by anything that lists “ the time” Don’t play their stupid game…ignore “ time”! It would be very liberating if we could do that.

Most of Arizona does not go to DST, the exception being the Navajo Nation, located in the upper east section of the state. One persistent problem with this are those newly moved here who don’t realize there is no DST and set themselves an hour out of sync.

But it kills the joke: A guy in Florida asks a desk clerk " When can I catch a flight to Atlanta?" She replies, “It takes off at 10 am and lands in Atlanta at 9:40”. He starts toward the plane. She hollars after him " Sir, you forgot to buy a ticket" and he answers " Oh there is no way in hell I’m getting on that thing, but I sure want to watch it take off!"

Long ago, when I worked overnights in the hospital, we would have the clock changes at 2AM… it was great in Spring, when we would get our full shift (8 hours) for being in for 7, but boy was it “not so great” when you worked in the Fall; seeing that clock wind itself BACK an hour at 2AM and knowing you had a 9 hour day :-\…

DST needs to die. If someone wants an extra hour of sunlight in the evening then they can get up an hour earlier every morning and let the rest of us sleep in.

It does seem silly to go back to standard time for only four months of the year. I have read that it puts unnecessary stress on our bodies.

They should do away with the time change, for SURE. Pick one or the other— “Standard time” or “DST”, I couldn’t care less which one they pick. Or do one more change and perhaps split the difference halfway in-between (though as an IT guy I do realize that halfway suggestion would be a huge and costly issue for computer systems to deal with and would screw up interest accrual etc.)
