Curious then and now even more disappointing. Not the cameras fault either. Blame it on time.

One bittersweet day in the far future, Gene and Mary Lou will find a shoebox with Arlo’s Polaroids stashed away.

And they’ll have such a laugh, hehe.

It also meant that we were more careful about the number of pictures we took. And we would look at them once back home. Now you take 8000 pictures and leave them on your disk drive because there’s too many of them.

Janis doesn’t like to look at old pictures, It depresses her to see herself 2 sizes smaller back then. Arlo still thinks of her a sexy.

Polaroids are a recurring topic at A&J’s domicile. Here’s an example:

    Anyone remember any more?

Polaroids are a recurring theme in the A&J domicile. In fact, this one’s from April 2015 with updated coloration.

Spring cleaning right now. Found scads of old photos. So old, we can’t remember who those people are or where the photos were taken. Too bad nobody thought to make notes on the back.

Whatever happened to Robin? The next door neighbor? She and Janis has such interesting strips. Janis once opined that she wished Arlo a good guy friend.

My first wife’s step sister gave us a Polaroid and two packs of film as a wedding gift. Her sister and hubby found the pictures.

I suspect she realized the problem with video. Well -posed stills are one thing. But humans just look absurd doing it on video, even the pros.

The real reason for the earlier disappointment? Janis needed to practice those poses for the camera. Do you think Playmates don’t?

That Polaroid SX-70 Arlo’s using was the pinacle of instant picture quality, and designed to take portrait-type photos. Polaroids were a product of their profligate time – the 3rd quarter of the 20th century.

Just on my first cup of coffee so it took awhile for this to sink in. She’s so disenchanted with her body she doesn’t want pictures taken.

I think the typical Polaroid pack, at least in the 1980’s and 1990’s, was only 8 pictures, and they were rather expensive (incentive to not toss any photos that were half way good?). I remember when digital photography became common, I wondered if anyone ever thought of using it for “those” kind of pictures (ha ha, just kidding, I figured there must be someone, somewhere who might have thought of it, besides just little old me)!

I used to work in photo labs, including one with one hour services. You would be amazed how many people shoot their own nudes and porn..and didn’t think anyone in a lab would see the pictures. But we see all the pictures..it was quality control, checking to see if pictures were printed at the correct exposure. I was printing one roll once, and the pictures were of the whole family in church clothes….then they immediately switched to the parents having sex.

His camera must have been really “clunky”; my pix were never disappointing – and safely locked away till I pass (then they can freak out the kids)…

One of the only types cameras dad never had was a Polaroid. So when I was in college and looking for a 3rd part time job and got same working in the ID card room I no idea of the acid in the chemical for Polariod photos and that I had to be careful when pulling the photo and paper apart. I found out when I noticed holes all over my jeans that had been burned by the acid.
