National Something on a Stick Day, I celebrated this yesterday. Every Friday until this COVID-19 crisis is over, w are going to get treats in our break room. Yesterday, it was ice cream bars – and no limit how many we could eat! I had a chocolate ice cream bar and an orange creamsicle. Yum!
National Triglycerides Day
National Black Forest Cake Day. I already have some white cake in my fridge, so I’ll have to pass on this one. I don’t think I need any more cake.
National Weed Appreciation Day. Because I don’t appreciate weeds in my garden, I looked further to see what it is we’re supposed to appreciate about weeds. Here is just part of what it said (it went on to list several other edible weeds).
“National Weed Appreciation Day on March 28th each year reminds us that some weeds are beneficial to us and our ecosystem.
Humans have used weeds for food and as herbs for much of recorded history. Some are edible and nutritious while other weeds have medicinal value.
Do you remember as a small child the fun you had with dandelions? Well, these bright yellow flowers serve a purpose. Dandelions are a food source for insects and some birds. Humans eat young dandelion leaves and enjoy tea and wine made from the leaves and flowers. The Native Americans used dandelions to treat certain ailments. Nutritionally, dandelions contain a source of vitamin A and C, calcium, iron and fiber."
To Marge from yesterday – I know the time will come when I lose my sweet Lovebug and I do so hope I will be with her when that time comes. She is still doing better right now, but not exactly well. She’s eating and holding her head up, but pretty much staying in her carrier right now. We have been battling her health problems for more than a year now, but she shows no signs that she’s ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge yet, so I will continue as normal until it gets to be too much for her. She has one more refill left on her pills (with what she has right now, that’s a 3-week supply). The vet did want to see her when the pills were all gone, but maybe they will put that off. I will ask about extending the prescription longer if things are going okay in 3 weeks. The vet had said before that we might need to keep her on them for life, though there’s the possibility that her infection would eventually become resistant to the antibiotic. We’ll see what the future holds.
A sad story about your Blitzi, too, but I’m happy you were able to be there for your kitty in the end. My Dolly had cancer too, but she died at home while I was at work. She died the day before I was going to take her to the vet for that final visit. I wish I could have been there when she passed.
Thank you for the wonderful wishes! As we are fostering barn cats right now and trying to make them less feral and more adoptable, so we have more than 10 cats right now! (we got 14 of them homes : )Also 2 more were “adoption fails” which means we kept them!
Thank you Graham. I really love this strip & every little thing helps right now. Also you have the most wonderful commenters & that helps as much as your comics.
Best strip EVER today, thank you so very much! All smiling except Jack, and Woof’s wave is so touching. Graham, may you and your family PLEASE stay safe and healthy!
Thank you, Graham, for this wonderful droring of our favorite little girl and her TEN CATS. Special shout-out to Woof, who waves merrily, for Bluebell’s Blessing and for Mr. Puddifoot’s closed, yet smiling, mouff. Oliver helped me write this. We luv you too, Jellybean!
I will add my thanks to you, Graham. Having a little hard time today and this meant a lot. Yes, you stay safe for Annie and the cat’s sake (and ours). I don’t know what I would do these days with the smiles and laughs I get from the comics. I saved this one to help me through what I’m sure will be more hard times.
I participated in a company video hangout yesterday. We are a global company, working-from-home these days. When I put my cat up to the camera, within seconds, four other cats were displayed by their owners. Cats will help get us through this.
God bless you, too, Annie the the kitties and Graham. Thanks for keeping our spirits up. Everyone stay safe out there!!!! You all are like family to me.
Good comic today. :) It’s important to realize that this pandemic is NOT the end of the world. As long as we stay safe and avoid unnecessary risks, we will endure and get through with this. On another note, saw a raven and some varied thrushes while out walking today.
My day started with my foster dog quite sick. Off to the vet as soon as they opened in the next county over…few here are open on Saturday. Suspected pancreatitis. Might be. Two meds and we will check in next week. That vet in the next county is my equine vet and quite a good guy.The day ended with tornado sirens going off tonight. The storm swept across and apparently did not produce a tornado. Lots of lightning though. Thanks, Graham, for the wonderful cats today!!!
Thank you, Graham. Hope you and yours stay well. Best wishes for all of us—the whole world. Hope you all listen to science, not political hacks who worry more about their pockets than the world!
