High heels, Short skirt. Hair shoulder length. Reaching for the sky. Why don’t they think it’s Tiffany? Oh right. Because she is waving to them in a friendly way.
This is a brand new character who will:• Rent Pru’s old room.• Tutor Tiffany to passing grades.• Show Tom the truth about Ann.• Be the girl that Les and Ox both love.• And teach Shannon manners.
It’s kind of a shame that the Gals didn’t walk up and say “Hi” to Hannah, Jess, Perry (?!!?), Nessa. Because Hannah, Jess, Perry(?!?) Nessa, would have represented someone new, and outside their usual circle of friends. Anc would have been a refreshing change of pace.
Say! Maybe Hannah, Jess, Perry (?!!?), Nessa need that room at Luann’s house. (Well, SOMEONE had to say it)
At the very least Luann and Bernice SHOULD have invited the person(s) to COFFEE, to catch up. They need not worry about talking about the old times that they don’t remember. I’m sure, Hannah, Jess, Perry (?!!?), Nessa would quickly shift the subject to that “Crazy Bets Gal on Snapchat.” And “IF” Bets’ “Hot boyfriend” is mentioned, try very hard to suppress a laugh. ;)
I know the feeling. And as I grow older and my list of people I know grows longer while my memory seems to grow shorter, I learn to fake with the best.
When I’m out on my daily walk, neighbors will drive by and wave at me. I don’t wave back… The problem? I can’t see inside the cars. Windows are tinted, sun glares off the glass, whatever, I can’t see anyone. So, I’m sure the neighbors all think I’m a snob.
I have this problem very often. Is really awkward. But seeing Luann and Bernice in the same situation it’s funny. Love the artwork in today’s strip. The slightly pale colors give to it a pleasant pastels delicacy.
I can’t believe people are missing the obvious point of these panels. So many complain that the regular week panel arc don’t correspond to the current events with covid-19. I think that eventually they will because we are going to be dealing with this monster for a few years, but we will figure it out, humans eventually do that. But this is obviously a Sunday foible, which operate on a totally different timeline than the weekly arcs which are planned far ahead, so this is clearly a hyperbolic example of the phenomena of social distancing. I mean more than six feet, but Greg and Karen should be given artistic license. Any doubt should be erased by Luann’s comment in the last panel, in reply to Bernie, “Would you rather lose a friend?” Come on all you smart experienced people this should be obvious.
Somebody at the supermarket the other day said she knew of me from high school, but I could not place. Kudos to Evans for showing Luann and Bernice in a relatable situation; Sundays seems to work best for these sorts of strips.
One more thing MD, in a pandemic your “we hope” applies 100% of the time, even in our own family a member or members may harbor this secret peril and not even know it. No it makes perfect sense that Luann and Bernice are standing together waving at friends in the distance. They have been around each other a lot and neither one has gotten sick. If you want to focus on other aspects of the strip fine, but to me it is so clear what this is a reference to it’s like a right cross to the jaw.
Why would anyone feel ‘dumb’ waving back to someone, even if you don’t know or recall the person? Bernice gets all cerebral about it. If someone says hi, you say hi back; no heavy decision.
This is generic Sunday Greg. Two 15 year old girls waving at an unidentified shadow person who also appears in the back rows of theaters and other venues where recognizable faces aren’t required. Only dangerous after dark when approaching, and Puddles starts growling.

If someone greets me. Whom I don’t recall their name. I own up and tell them. “Sorry, I cannot recollect your name.” I believe in being honest!!

If this is supposed to be a strip on the difficulties of social distancing, G&K forgot to give Luann and Bernice face masks.

In the first panel, Bernice looks like she is squinting. Perhaps she needs new glasses.

Well, panel 2 excludes the possibility that she was waving at someone behind them which is something that has happened to me.
