Correct me if I am wrong, If this is true, are you sure, Jon, that you don’t have labels that tell which hand is your right hand and which one is the left one?
When my kid was small… I painted little dots on her shoes. Left – Blue… Right – Red. She complained that she wasn’t sure which was Left and which Right. I then tried bracelets, rings, and hair bows. Maybe I should have dyed her hair! But… then she would have looked like Harley Quinn! Wait… that might not have been a bad thing… (Smirk!)
I had an uncle who swore the one with print on it was the right sock. He wouldn’t buy them if there was print on both or neither. He had plenty other quirks.
Embarrassing but true, in the late 50s early 60s my family used to tease me about a birthmark on my wrist, telling me " If the birthmark ever came off I would never be able to tell my right from my left."
They would say that so often, that in 1961 , shortly before my 5th birthday when I had chicken pox, and a scab obliterated the spot, I actually panicked thinking that my arms could change places.
My diabetic socks are marked with an “L” and an “R.”
But when I was in college, on a hike with a friend, I nearly convinced him that there were left and right socks. We’ll blame in on the altitude, shall we?
Actually, my socks come in left and right also. I love my “toe socks”! https://www.amazon.com/PACKGOUT-Finger-Athletic-Running-Included/dp/B01KFS9I7C/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=toe+socks&qid=1593160297&sr=8-15
suddenly, and I don’t know why i didn’t think of it before, I wonder why she’s with him? can’t SHE do any better/ does he have some magic? I mean think it through. he’s got a better love life than Dilbert
I want to be surprised that Jon knows how to sew but I am not. And he has way too much time on his hands if he can sew tiny labels in all of his socks.
I have or at least had a pair of socks that had the words left foot and right foot sewn on them as part of the actual design. I would sometimes play the “rebel” card by intentionally putting them on the opposite foot XD.
Liz is a veterinarian, pretty, presumably successful . . . so why does she need Jon? Is her life outside so exciting, she needs him to balance things or is she a glutton for punishment?

I don’t think the sock labels would work unless you had your feet appropriately tatooed also.

I prefer using “Sinister” and “Dexter” as it clarifies the issue of whether are we speaking of my actual left or your left as you are looking at me.

I always put my right sock on first. That’s the right way to begin. Then the one that is left has to be the left one.
